“Good value”
.. at least it was on my trip. The hotel has a Finnair Citybus stop outside for the airport bus BUT take care - the tourist office at the airport directed me to the cheaper but slower Helsinki bus that does not pass the hotel. Other than that, it is 2 tram stops from the city centre and (if you happen to be visiting Nokia) there is a bus from outside the hotel that passes Nokia. The hotel has a decent gym and quite a good restaurant for a big chain hotel. The only downside I found was that the kitchen is completely closed on a Sunday evening.
“A nice hotel in a reasonable location”
The hotel is located a little way outside the City Centre however a short 10 minute stroll gets you to the main shops and restaurants. Throughout the stay staff service was excellent. The food in the restaurant was excellent - I would specifically recommend the "Lapland" starter. Very nice pool and sauna area however water in the pool was freezing cold. The room was basic and not particularly modern however the bed was very comfortable and overall it was spotlessly clean.
“Great hotel; gorgeous gym - will definitely be back on my next business trip”
Great hotel; gorgeous gym - will definitely be back on my next business trip
“Efficient, comfortable, clean, well located”
Location: I went to Helsinki primarliy for the opera performances and this hotel is ideally located for the Finnish National Opera being just five minutes along the main road. The excellent tram service runs from directly outside into the centre of town. There is also the bonus of the Finnair airport bus stopping at the Scandic making transfers a doddle. Condition: The hotel is quite modern, nothing outstanding to look at internally or exterally but still in good repair and decor. My room was very comfortable and quite large enough with a nice washroom including a good shower. Cleanliness was good. Service: All the staff were efficient and friendly although on occasion there weren't enough people on reception to handle the volume of arrivals so it was necessary to wait for service. Restaurant: The included breakfast was typical hotel fare with a selection of cheese, cold meat, bacon, eggs, fruit, cereal, jams, etc. though not of exceptional quality. I did not eat there otherwise as it seemed quite expensive and there were places in town I wanted to try anyway. Msicellaneous: I liked the seperation of smoking and non-smoking floors. I'm not so sure about the lack of tea/coffee facilities in room and having to pay extra for these at a counter in reception - it may be more economical and if reflected in room price (though I doubt that as it was not cheap!) maybe OK. I would definitely use this hotel again for a similar trip.
“Great hotel for price!”
this was the cheapest, nicest looking hotel I could find and didn't dissapoint. It was about a 10 min walk to the start of the main part of the city and from the main train station and nice places to eat and drink. Hotel isn't a modern place but very clean, well maintained and can't fault it for a weekend break. I am pretty well travelled and Helsinki is probably one of the, if not the, most expensive places i've ever been so the free buffet breakfast wasn't only lovely and plentiful but a most welcome break to paying well over the top for food and drink. If you want a nice little base at a reasonable price then this is it! The finnair transfer bus even stops right outside! What more do you want! :-) Note if in town on a Sunday night that things close early for dinner!
“Great location for the Finnair bus”
Good location for easy access to the airport. Excellent breakfast. Pricey like everything else in Helsinki
“Never again”
I have stayed at this hotel many times over a number of years and there have been no perceptible improvemnts bar a coat of paint. This is the last time I wish to stay there as the hotel gives the appearance of being tired, and lacks the service and room cleanliness attributable to its star rating. Rooms were not properly cleaned, beds occasionally not properly made, floors not hoovered, and the bathroom must be 20 years out of date. Buffet breakfast is very good, but during this last visit was like a cattle market, with queues and heaving with people and kids. Granted it is a holiday season and family hotel but finding a table for breakfast was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Not a great way to start the day. Not a great hotel top stay in Helsinki.......plenty of competition exists and I;ll find a better one next time. I visit Helsinki, as a Finn, several times a year, and am reluctant to stay again. Reception was very good and helpful Pity Finnair doesn't use it anymore either.....it was very convenient for getting to the airport, but since the change of route, it means having to cross busy traffic to the bus stop across the road. Restaurant for dinner was boring and meals were worse nthan ordinary. Get a better chef! Not a pleasant stay
“Pleasant experience overall”
Good choice for one night stay over; take exec room; many tourists
“Good access by shuttle bus from Helsinki Airport”
This is a good hotel with a direct access to the bus stop for a shuttle bus from/to airport. Unfortunately fitness room was closed due to repair works. Breakfast - huge and tasteful, dinner - high quality service and food.
“not impressed”
The hotel is old and it smells. The breakfasat is good, but almost everywhere in Helsinki the hotels serve good breakfast. The swimming pool area did not get cleaned, water all over in the change room and so on. The shower cabin in the room is very uncomfortableI and you need to figure out how manage it so I even hurt my fingers. There is no consierge service, however the reception staff is not willing to give info or pretend not to be aware about some popular places to visit like Cable Factory, for example. My major observation: I have been visiting Finland quite often during 13 years and this kind of unfriendliness seemed pretty unusual for Finland, so this expirience happened to be a little mistake.
