“Boutique styling yet comfort throughout”

Great, central location. Close too good restaurants, harbor, pedestrian areas, shopping and government and other office buildings.

“Very impressed”

This hotel is very good value for a hotel in the medium to premium category and the price was definitely reasonable considering the size and the quality of the room. The room was quite spacious (compared with some hotels I have been to in other Scandinavian countries) and well kept. it is also next to the tram stop, close to Helsinki central station and shops. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
Helsinki is only small so it does not take much time to go around. The main attraction include the cathedral and the Sibelius monument. It is also very worth catching a boat to Soumenlinna, which is a small UNESCO listed island about 30 minutes away.

“Modern, comfy city hotel in a beautiful city”

We hadn't visited Helsinki before and this hotel was ideally located within a block of the harbor, museums, right in the heart of a pedestrian city block. The breakfasts were included in our price and they were great--a huge array of buffet style choices. Our room was modern, spacious, comfortable. The in-room internet was sluggish and old tech but at least we could check our emails. I would recommend this hotel and highly recommend this city for a visit. It was lovely.

Area recommendations
This city, Helsinki, is completely surrounded by ship harbors. Tall masted sailing ships, ocean vessels, ferries, pleasure boats, and businesses all around the harbors are situated so that you can face the Baltic Sea from many locations around the city. The Finns couldn't have been nicer. Very friendly.
When to go
We visited in mid September. Next time, we'll probably go during late July or August so that I can set up my easel and enjoy weather that won't require heavier rain gear & clothing. If you like snow and midnight sun, wait till winter.

“Beautiful Hotel and Good Value for Helsinki”

“Good Hotel, Excellent Location”

We have stayed in Helsinki many times at various hotels, but the Glo has been among the best. It is ideally located--a few steps from the harbor side market and many of Helsinki's best restaurants (Fishmarket, Olo, Chez Dominque, Nokka, Jurri). The rooms are large and comfortable. It is immediately available to the 3T trolley, a great way to see the City, and to all the tours leaving from the harbor. The only odd thing was the stained and frayed couch in our room--a complete departure from the high quarlity of the rest of the hotel.

“Beautiful Hotel Really Glows!”

We were in Helsinki in the summer, but I can imagine what a wonderful and modern retreat this hotel is in the winter with the long Scandinavian nights. The decor is warm and there is loads of lighting in the room so you won't miss the sun. It is close to downtown and transportation is easy. On our three week trip all around Scandinavia the GLO was one of our favorite stays.

Area recommendations
We were only in Helsinki a day, but it was enough time to get a city tour and take the ferry out to the Suomenlinna Fortress. We arrived there from Stockholm via the overnight cruise ship, which was great. We then took the high speed ferry the next day to Tallinn, Estonia. Wonderful part of the world!

“Very comfortable”

This hotel has spacious rooms with everything you need for a short or extended stay. It is a little bit different from others in that it offers extras like aromatherapy for your pillows at no extra charge. The staff were attentive and obliging. The atmosphere is relaxed and the breakfasts are plentiful and varied. Located right in the city centre the location is perfect. The restaurant has reasonably priced evening meals. The weather was hot when we were there (July) and the air conditioning was a bit too warm for our liking.

Area recommendations
The centre of the city is well served by the Finnair airport bus which provides an efficient and reasonably priced transfer to and from the city railway station.

“Great Place!!”

GLO is an upscale hotel located at the center of Helsinki. Great service and staff!! Definitely would stay at GLO again when I visit Helsinki again!

Area recommendations
Great shopping area around GLO including a nice park. Market by the port is a great place to pick up good food and gifts.
Getting there
Getting to GLO can be easily accessed by walking there from the Central Station.
Getting around
From GLO, many sites and locations can be reached by walking. Enjoy the streets, shops, and the people in Helsinki!
Dining
Finland's famous chocolate Karl Fazer cafe is right across the street from GLO. Must try their sweet desserts and coffee!!

“Great location, funky & modern”

Stayed two nights, staff very helpful, great location near all the good stuff of Helsinki, great modern room/decor - would easily stay again.

Area recommendations
Centre or anywhere near Market Square to the West. Most of shopping, sights accessible easily from there.

“Coasting on its reputation”

Great location, but not worth the money, even at a discount. Staff were overworked at the front desk, bar, and breakfast room. The room "amenities" widely promoted as available on request (such as a shiatsu back massager, etc.) were either "no longer available" or "all in use". The room a/c was unable to keep the room comfortable during very hot weather. Only two bath towels and two hand towels are provided, and though more can be requested, the extra clean towels are not provided the following day. No hand soap is provided (although liquid soap is provided for the bathtub). The breakfast room tended to get extremely crowded, and it was difficult to flag down a server to ask for an (extra cost) cappuccino. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant, and the design of the rooms is attractive. Overall, the hotel suffers from a lack of professionalism and needs some serious management attention. None of the problems couldn't be remedied by proper management. However, I would stay elsewhere the next time in Helsinki.
