“Lovely hotel friendly staff”
This was a lovely hotel with very friendly english speaking staff and a good central location. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of Finnish special fish dishes as well as the typical european breakfast fare. The reception staff helped us book dinner in a lovely traditional restaurant called Salve nearby which was lovely. The Double room had two single beds pushed together which seems to be quite common in scandinavia.
“If only they fixed the wireless system....”
Walking distance from the waterfront and the city center; super-friendly and effective service (they really go out of the way to help you, always with a smile); not fancy but perfectly OK for most business people. The only problem, a big inconvenience, is the cheapest of all to fix: their wireless connection is horrible! Despite the promise of WiFi in every room, the truth is that only in the lobby there is a decent signal strength. They told me this problem will get fixed in mid 2012 -- you wonder why they will wait that long!
“Unpretentious value”
Morning and evening were staff smiley, helpful and spoke good English. Single room was large enough with armchair, table and tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom on the crampt side, as toes touched wall in front when sitting on loo. Quality shower (room with bath was an option) but cubicle size reduced mobility. Sensible bottled shampoo and soap containers and sufficient flat surfaces to spread out bathroom accessories. No noise problem, supermarket located within fifty metres, tram number 6 stops within five minutes walk. Breakfast room in cellar, variety of juice, fruit, cereals, fine breads, sausages and scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheeses and more to choose from. Local and international newspapers at hand. Lots of local leaflets, maps and tourist booklets readily available. Straight forward credit card style key entry to the room.
“Lovely hotel, character in design”
Great hotel, great location. Quiet street, easy walk to everywhere. Lovely helpful and polite staff
“exceeded my expectations”
The lobby of the hotel had a wonderful Gothic feel while the spacious guest room that I had was in a new modern wing. The staff were always helpful and accommodating to make my stay more enjoyable. All these things were "free": wifi, use of a computer with printer, library room with coffee/ tea, sauna, massage chair, full breakfast and bicycles. It was an easy walk of about a 10-15 minute to the central transit hub of Helsinki. The breakfast was excellent and generous with the usual variety of eggs, meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals, coffee, tea and juice, and more. The room was quiet at night, although there was some construction activity in the building next door during the day. The hotel really added to the enjoyment of my visit to Helsinki.
“Good hotel and friendly hotel”
Art Noveau Hotel close to Harbour, lots of character and renovated in mid nineties. Public places look a little tired, but good rooms and excellent breakfast. Very helpful staff. Gratis tea, computer and printer a nice and useful touch. Try the Salve eatery close by.
“Helsinki - Linna”
Current Hotel is on the older side. However, a new addition is under construction, and should be finished in the middle of 2012. The location is good, in the design district, but not the best. The best hotel location in Helsinki is near the Harbour and the Park - 3 hotel come to mind in this area - Glo; Kamp; and, Haven. Lastly, most travel guides are not up to date, especially in a place like Helsinki which is always changing.
“Great character”
Very neat hotel - the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fantastic. My one complaint was the shower. They misinstalled the drain, so the water does not drain properly, leaving water on the floor. They provided a squeegee, which did not provide much help. Other than that, a great stay!
“Great Value, Incredible Staff”
The rooms in this hotel are in another building, in a quiet courtyard in the back. They are very quiet, even though there's construction going on next door (the hotel is expanding dramatically). The rooms are typically sized European rooms, extremely clean, with tons of storage, free wifi (that works great), a safe, flat screen (with a lot of channels in English), a comfortable chair, along with a desk chair. This is all in a single room. The minibar is stocked, and has one shelf left clear, with a sign that says put your stuff here!!! The rooms have an electric kettle, rather than a coffee maker, which I fine to be much cleaner. Free bikes, free umbrellas, free good breakfast. The staff at this hotel is absolutely remarkable! Especially those at the front desk. They are extremely well-informed, helpful, friendly, and will research anything for you! And their English is impeccable! If you get a room with a shower, the placement of the drain is somewhat problematic at first, but you'll soon figure it out. Even though the bathrooms are small, there's plenty of storage room for your stuff. I loved this hotel, loved the staff, and I travel a lot. And it is an incredible value!
“Excellent value, terrific service and bikes to borrow!”
I was really impressed with Hotel Linna. The price was very good, it was within walking distance of all the action in Helsinki, but enough out of the way to be quiet. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast (included) included a lot of options (eggs, sliced meats and cheese, fresh fruit and yogurt, a variety of breads for toasting). The hotel has bikes that you can borrow for free, which is nice as Helsinki is a very biking friendly city. There is free WIFI, a free shelf in the minibar fridge to store your own stuff and a computer with a printer for guest use in a lounge off the lobby. Good value for money and a comfortable and friendly place to stay!
