“STAY CLEAR AWAY!”
This place acts as a dorm for long stay students. Unfortunately, the hostel does not separate students from tourists and travelers. It VERY NOISY with doors open and music playing, incessant loud gossip, female students taking their computers and stereos out in the hall while doing makeup, people constantly running around knocking classmate doors, and EVERY NIGHT WE STAYED STUDENTS RETURNING 2-6 AM DRUNK AND NOISY. The hostel did not seem to care about enforcing quiet hours. Now this may sound like a typical party hostel (I've seen my share), but the fact is we felt very much like outsiders tresspassing on their turf. It cost 5 Euros per person/per 24 hrs for very poor Internet connection. MY ADVICE TO THE HOSTEL: PARTITION A FLOOR OR WING FOR THE LONG STAY STUDENTS TO SEPARATE THEM FROM TOURISTS AND TRAVELERS. YOUR KITCHEN NEEDS MORE COOKING UTENSILS AND A HOT WATER COOKER. PUT MORE EFFORT INTO ENSURING LATE NIGHT DRUNKS DON'T RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE.
“Acceptable for the price”
Helsinki is a very expensive city and this hostel is less so. That being the case, you will certainly have to adjust your expectations. Eurohostel is clean, though definitely no frills -- in fact, it looks like it used to be a prison and it still feels that way today. There is no free internet, breakfast is not included in the rate, there is no soap in the showers, the sauna was not operational, and there was no television. The staff were helpful in that they answered my questions but they were not particularly friendly. There is a restaurant in the hostel but the quality is poor and the prices high. The safe and residential location of Eurohostel is good if you're going to be taking the Viking Line because it's right by their dock, but otherwise it's rather far from all the sights in the city center. It is close to a lightrail stop (line 4), however. Despite these downsides, I recommend this hostel because it was clean, quiet, and cheap.
“Very nice hostel :)”
Liked it very much, good find in Helsinki.
“Helsinki is wonderful place”
We visited Helsinki many times and stayed in Eurohostel frequently. So we know good the hostel service and conditions.
“quiet and a bit out of the way”
Great hostel! There is a tram 20m from the door that goes into town. A supermarket is about 150m away and has everything you will need. The hostel is clean and tidy but the kitchens could do with a few more utensils etc. You may need to wait a while if self catering but the appliances (hot plates and microwave were in great order)
“Great for the price”
Nice and clean. The bathrooms have been updated since the last time i was there.
“perfecto location”
is a perfect location, but the room needs a little clean
“Good for travellers arriving by Viking line”
It is a reasonable place to stay if you are arriving through Viking line. However, if you are taking SijiTallin line, then it will be quite walk (20 minutes), no direct public transportation is available. The room is basic and reasonably clean.
“If you're a student....”
- This is a hostel - Shared bath at the end of the hall - Pricey for a hostel though - Breakfast is not included and not that good.
“Not impressed as no male bathroom toilet on the floor of our room”
Our room was booked with the expectation that there were male and female bathrooms and toilets on each floor and easily accessible to our room. The male bathroom on 5th floor was out of order/undergoing repairs. The staff advised they were fully booked and no room on another floor was available. There was no sympathy from the reception staff or any apologies for the state of the 5th floor. We left and found other accommodation. I would not recommend this accommodation.
