The Scandic Hamar is a very clean hotel and they offer a good breakfast buffet. The beds were comfortable and the rooms well appointed. What was not so good was the staff and their attitude toward guests. They were not friendly, did not smile or offer a welcoming word. In most interactions, they seemed almost annoyed to be bothered by have to check in guests, answer questions or service the breakfast buffet. I could chalk this up to the standoff-ish Norwegian personality, but even so, they should think about how they treat guests from outside Norway.

the location is great near shopping centre and walkable to the main town by the waterside. staff are friendly and helpful. breakfast was excellent too. downside was room lacks of basic facilities like kettle and no telephone to contact reception if you need something. also no free park on site but was easy enough to park and pay. good for an overnight stay.

Nice hotel, tiny rooms
Hotel is quite new and always very clean. Staff is amazing and very polite. Just a couple of things I faced: 1. The rooms are tiny and have little to no amenities (not even a phone to call reception) and 2.The front desk person didn't want to exchange USD for local currency with no reasonable explanation. This was very inconvenient and disappointing.

Lovely stay! Missed having a fridge & a safe in the room. No tea & coffee in the room only in reception area but have had these in previous Scandic hotels. Room very clean & breakfast good.

OK stay for business trip
Stayed for one night for work. Hotel needs a bit of a tidying up. It felt tired and not the usual standard of other scandic hotels. Good sleep, breakfast OK. Didn’t spoil my stay but wouldn’t rush back.

Hyggelig hotell med god frokost!
Hotellet er rent og pent og har en god atmosfære. Sengen var overraskende myk og god og såpene fra Stockholm likte jeg godt. Nydelig presentert frokost!

The a/c in the room wasn’t working and the window would only open a couple of inches… so we roasted the entire night. When we complained they said the only thing they could do was loan us a fan. The fan did nothing to cool the room down!

Ok for one night
We knew about the work that was happening at the hotel, so we were expecting it to a certain degree. But the amount of work that was going on was a bit surprising. Several sections on floor we had our room on were covered in plastic, and we were not expecting such a mess on the floors where guests were staying. The bathroom was also a bit dusty, but nothing too bad. The room was ok! We were told that the workers would start at 8 the next morning, but at 7.23 they were at it, and RIGHT outside our window. The woman at the desk was very nice and helpful!

Family homebound stay
A friendly and nice hotel at Hamar, in the neighborhood of the Olympic Arena (Vikingskipet), and with a very nice museum park or area (Domkirkeodden). Excellent breakfast solution, actually the best we saw in our 1 week hotel trip this Summer :-)

We had pre-paid for this hotel via Expedia. They had our booking when we arrived. On departure they wold not let us leave without providing our credit card. I showed the staff our booking which said that we had pre-paid. They said that they would review it. We did not hear anything from the hotel but then found that they had charged our credit card again for the booking, so in effect we paid twice. POOR SERVICE

Hotel close to Hamar Centre
I stay at this hotel whilst attending The Gathering. It’s close and easy. I think the value for money could be better though!

Fint hotell, god frokost og hyggelig lobbe. Maten i restauranten var også bra. Ulempe at frokosten kun er frem til klokka 10 på en søndag ! Også savnet jeg muligheten til å lage seg en kopp kaffe på rommet, hverken kaffemaskin eller vannkoker.
