“Nice Condo in a quite but windy area”

The condo was very nice and had an excellent view of the golf course. Be prepared because it is windy in this area, but the value is really great for this location. There is a mall that is close with food store and local bars in the area. So you can have a good time in this area and the golf is great with courses close to this area.

“Repeat stay!”

Overall this is a very good choice for a hotel on the Big Island of Hawai'i and I would recommend it. Upon check in (or prior) make sure to ask for a golf course view (to avoid road traffic noise on the other side) and a second floor unit (for upper floor noise issues). The location is about 45 minutes to Kona but closer to some nice beaches and to Waimea, so the location is all about what your stay is for. It's away from the hustle and bustle of Kona but closer to nice smaller towns up north, so it's give and take. Our first few nights were awesome, then we had people check in the next unit who decided it was okay to be loud at all times of the night while getting drunk. At night its' nice to open the lanai door to the bedroom and have the nice breeze blow in, unless you have people previously mentioned in the adjacent unit. Other than that issue for the remaining few nights the stay was very good and Paniolo Greens is recommended to others!

“Made the right decision chosing this one.”

This condo was probably built in the 1980's; but has been maintanted well. The small village it is located in has all I need: gas, post office, grocercy store, & small breakfast place w/in 1 mile. Also pool & hot tub. Had one small problem that was fixed at 10:00 pm w/in minutes. The room is as big as a 2 bedroom townhouse. There is so much to do on the BIG island ( I put 1150 miles on my jeep in 6 days), you may not spend much time there. Probably about 15 minutes from Kona Airport.

Area recommendations
The Big Island has it all.
Getting around
HAWAII The Big island in general: Food & Gas are hard to find after 8PM.
Outdoors or beach
Hawaii The Big island: Green Sand Beach is very difficult to get to. Vocano is best seen as it is getting dark. Don'T miss Akaka falls waterfall.

“Just As Advertised”

The condo was just as described by others. My work was both in Kona and at the middle of the Saddle Road, so this location was ideal. I like that the condo was quiet and that it had a fitness center (albeit a small one). There was a nearby market and two near by dining establishments - Banjy's (the golf course restaurant) and Dave's Coffee Shop, as well as a few others - all reasonably priced.

Area recommendations
No place for visitors to stay. I live in a strictly residential area.

“A great condo experience!”

Paniolo Greens far exceeded my expectations in many ways. The service at check in was friendly and efficient. We had booked a one bedroom/one bath unit, but received a two bedroom/two bath unit for no extra cost. The condo was attractively furnished with new looking furniture, very clean and quiet. We choose the air-conditioning for $5/night and considered it well worth the nominal cost. The kitchen was equipped with all necessary equipment, including coffee, sugar, creamer, dish detergent, trash bags, etc. The housekeeping was more than we expected, changing sheets daily unless you tell them not to, running the dishwasher, etc. We would definitely stay there again and wished we could have stayed longer on this occasion!

“Hawaii Vacation”

The room was awesome. It was more like an appartment than a rental. Great kitchen with Stainless Steal Cookware. The Staff was great. Kept the room clean. Did the dishes. Made the bed everyday. I would highly recoment.

Area recommendations
Probably would stay in Hilo next time since most of what we did was on the other side of the island.
When to go
Caverns of Fire is a good tour of the Volcano tubes. Not for the weak. It is a tough climb over rocks that have fallen, but worth it. The bike down the Volanco is lots of fun. Would have been more fun if it had lasted longer. We did the Circle the Island tour. That was very helpful, but it lasted 11 hrs. Very tired when finished.
Getting around
Do NOT buy the pre paid full tank of gas. To fill up the car, it would cost about maybe $40.00. The pre Pay cost $70.00 with Taxes. Not a good deal. I will never do that again.
Shopping
The are WalMarts, Safeway, and a Costco. The other stores are very expensive. $5.00 for a loaf of bread. But that is to be expected. Gas was $4.89 on the Kona side and $4.32 on the Hilo side.

“Great deal”

Try to get an ocean view (in K building or some of the rooms in I building). And on the second floor. It had 2 bedrooms (if you only paid for one, they just locked the second one off). Also had washer and dryer with detergent, kitchen with all appliances, cookware, utensils. Upstairs is the bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and laundry. Was nice to wash laundry before going home. A patio off main bedroom. Downstairs a spacious family room and dinning room with a large patio off that, with a nice patio set of table/chairs so you can enjoy meals outside. There are lots of wild turkeys around, so maybe take ear plugs if you're sensitive to their noises in the morning.... but it didn't bother us. Location is a bit of a drive. About 45 min from Kona, and 15 min from a good beach (Pauko is good for snorkeling--from resort, when you get to hwy 19 go right and I think Pauko is the second left). There are other hotels right on the beach area, but if you don't mind driving around this isn't bad.

Area recommendations
The closest spot with lots to do is Kailua-Kona (about 45 min south). We wanted to travel around quite a bit though and went over to Hilo, down to south point, and up to waimea and pololu. So this was a good location. If you just want a cheap place in Kona we walked by Inn's down there that were like $60 / night.
When to go
we went in September and it was good... sunny, warm, etc.... and maybe not as many people. Didn't have any storms.
Shopping
There's a Wal-Mart, Target and Ross in Kona. Also there's a Costco about 10 min North of Kona. If you want to save on gas, fill it up at Costco. Costco also has Caramacs and Macadamia's for a better price then we saw anywhere else if you want those for souveniers. Ross was the best place to get Hawaiian dresses ($12) as compared to $24 at the farmers market -(which is in Kona Wed. - Sun. Closing at 5pm). Wal-mart was the best place to gt board-shorts.
Dining
L&L drive in in Kona (near Sac and Save) is the place locals go. Good plate lunch place for Hawaiian food. about $7 a plate.
Events and shows
Royal Kona Resort Luau was great. In Kona.
Outdoors or beach
good snorkeling beach where we saw dolphins- off HWY 19 between Kona and Paniolo greens there's a road going by a cinder cone on the ocean side of the road...on the other side of 19 is a sign / road for a veterans cemetary. (rd. didn't have a name sign, but it was paved) Manta night dive was AMAZING. Look up Jacks Diving locker...in kona. they were great.
