“Caution!”
The Econo Lodge in E. Hartford is reasonably priced, conveniently located to downtown Hartford, and has a courteous staff. But I would not recommend staying there.
The first night they put me in a room that was like stepping into an ash tray. And it didn't seem clean. I'm a non-smoker and they'd put me in a smoking room. They were agreeable about moving me, and put me in a non-smoking room for the next night. (Ask for a non-smoking room if you don't smoke!!!)
But in some ways, the non-smoking room was worse. This room also seemed dirty; the light in the bathroom didn't work, and during the night I got a bloody bug bite on my ankle -- in fact, there were streaks of my blood all over the lower part of the sheets. Really, really nasty!
If you decide to risk this place, don't stay in rooms 173 to 183, which are the ones nearest check-in. Construction crews checking in for the night pull up and leave their truck motors running -- for long periods of time. So these rooms can be noisy, with rumbling engines that are idling, the resulting exhaust, and noise from the road that borders the place.
