I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. I booked this one because of its location and did not expect any thing more than a simple business hotel. ON checking in, I discovered what a great hotel this was. My room was one of the most spacious I stayed in among many hotels. The staff was courteous, friendly and efficient. Very clean and the hotel provided its bottled water when I needed more at no cost. The hotel has three restaurants. The Chinese restaurant offers a very wide menu and does not cost much. You can have a nice meal for as little as 100 RMB. The Fu Cafe is open 24 hours and for dinner, there is a nice buffet, a combination of Chinese and Japanese. Again the atmosphere is relaxed and the restaurant is rather quiet after 8 pm. All in all, it is a hotel that will not disappoint. Only area of improvement is better wi-fi. The wi-fi was rather slow.
Apparently this is one of the best hotels in the city...it's very close to Yellow Dragon Cave (wow the name sounds stupid in English) and Yellow Dragon Stadium (again) so it's easy to make your way back if you get lost in the city. They provide many things like bottles of water, slippers, and umbrella which is good because it rained and I didn't have my own umbrella. My room was very clean. The hotel staff is very kind. Close your windows in the summer so mosquitoes don't fly inside (very bad). You can tell it is a good hotel because there are very expensive cars parked outside all the time. I saw two different Bentleys and even a Rolls-Royce Phantom, which I also saw parked outside a Walmart two blocks away lol.

The St. Rich Hotel was good value for money. It was obviously a first class hotel when built but like us, is aging fairly gracefully. It was comfortable, good bathroom, comfortable beds, windows that open. It is located a few blocks from a subway station and Westlake. There is a pretty good selection of Chinese food at breakfast and we had no trouble choosing things we liked. We would stay there again when in Hangzhou.
This was my best Marriott stay to date! Yes, I have had more elegant ones, but none with staff as great as this hotel. I used to work for Marriott and know the customer service required to be a part of the quality chain, however, these employees outperformed all other Marriott Hotels in the past. After I got my Son from the orphanage, I asked if I could get another water per day and they made sure I had plenty my entire stay. On our last day the staff packed up a lunch bag for both of us to take on the plane and wished us well. This is after they greeted me each morning remembering what beverage I had in the morning, whisked away empty plates, brought us anything we may have ordered from the buffet custom made. They answered my Son's myriad of questions he had and brought him his special plates and cup each morning. They showed him how to work the register and gave him the duplicate tape and showed him how it worked. Everyone was very pleasant and showed great care and patience with a very scared little boy and his new Mommy.
