“Poor hotel”
Service was good. Room was tired an not comfy. Hotel needs work and is over priced.
“Average”
Great location with parking
“generally good hotel”
This was generally good, with a high standard of cleanliness. The room was quite good, though rather gloomy (bedside lamps only, no overhead light) and we had to ask for an additional tall lamp to provide an adequate level of lighting. Breakfast was good, though arrangements for paying for it a little confusing due to an apparent breakdown in communication between a waitress and reception staff. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, would probably go back.
“No curtains only views of office workers”
Our trip was regarding a visit to my daughters university. Had a drink in the bar on arrival the bar had no diet coke my draught lager was not in good condition and tasted sour we order some crisp that came from the kitchen took age s to arrive and when they did they were stale.Booked in reception and was asked if we would like morning paper which replied yes too. paper did not arrive on both days of our stay on enquiring on first morning for second time we where told they where very busy by reception after waiting half hour for paper after we complained second morning paper came after reporting not receiving it with no supplements and in addition had been read ! after asking for supplements reception replied "don't worry we won't charge you for it" We had a doulble room overlooking car park and offices but no net curtains or blinds so hence no privacy. Hotel standards are very poor which is such a shame because it has agreat location in heart of Winchester.
“Excellent location”
We visited Winchester for a short break as a family of four (2 rooms). Hotel is excellently situated for access to shops and cathedral. Good range of restaurants too-try Zizzis. The bar and garden were welcoming in early June sunshine. Rooms a little small - but comfortable and good flat screen TV with range of channels. Our bathroom (ground floor room) was cramped. We would certainly return but probably ask if other rooms available.
“CHARMING HOTEL”
Our second visit to this hotel, and it was just as we remembered it and enjoyed. Great location, friendly helpful staff, and very comfortable.
“Fantastic location”
Our room was on the ground floor with a view of the gardens. The curtains did not close properly, there was a small gap in between the curtains. This problem was easily resolved by pushing the table in front of the window back slightly so that it held the curtains together. The rest of the room was clean and tidy and well kept. The room was very peaceful and quite which was great. With the view of the gardens it felt like we were in the countyside rather than in the middle of town. The breakfast buffet was served in the annex coservatory with a view of the gardens. The breakfast was lovely and the waitresses very attentive. The food served in the bar was also delicious. The fish and chips is highly recommended. Outside of the hotel it was a few minutes walk to the main shopping area and not far from the Cathedral which is well worth a visit Overall I enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would stay again.
“Hidden Gem”
Good central location. Old part of hotel is full of character. Ask for a Garden View. My wife said the only thing she could fault with our room (no 114) was the lack of a full length mirror for checking her out fit in! Women eh!! Try the Royal Oak pub nearby, oldest pub in England with a haunted down stairs section. Only problem was London prices for food and drink.
“good location in Winchester”
This hotel is at a great location since it is near to all interesting features of Winchester, also, shopping, and dinning. However, it really needs updating. The hall carpet is worn, the light shades were stained, the shower control was marked with calcium deposits and the bathroom light was very dim. I would recommend this hotel with reservations and woud request an inside room further away from the outside eating area.
“Pleasant stay”
The hotel was in a very central position with free parking facliities. It has a lovely garden to relax in and the staff were courteous and professional
