The pub part was quite nice, but there was a lack of parking and the rooms are considerably more shabby than the photos would suggest. Very noisy macerator toilet. No hot water in the shower. I booked a superior double room, the first room was tiny and didn’t have a bath (picture suggested a roll top bath), so I was moved to a family room, which was ok, but really in need of a refresh. Bathroom was very tired.

Lovely new room but surfaces need glass on as they will be ruined quite quickly with people’s glasses and hot tea! The fire alarm woke us up at 12.45 pm so maybe stress No smoking in rooms as I didn’t see any!!! Staff amazing and friendly

We had a lovely large room and bathroom at the property and the meal we booked for the evening was very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were pleased that they happened to have a band playing the night we stayed.

Great location in the village, our particular room could do with a little TLC and clean but nothing too serious. Not too happy with the saniflow toilet but this is an old property so restricted pipeline might be the issue. Great helpful staff . Breakfast was great and the evening meal was very nice as well. Great bar area and also nice space outside . Limited car park but one just a few minutes walk away. Historical building so expect squeaky floors and doors , roads can be busy at times so ear plugs recommended.

It apparently had a refurbishment fairly recently but is still shabby in parts. Room was clean, except for carpet. Breakfast was very good. Parking is limited but free. Can be very noisy on some nights both in the pub / hotel and outside in the centre of Whitchurch . Blue Ginger Indian restaurant nearby is excellent if you want to eat in peace and quiet.

Nice enough. Staff rather indifferent. Steps to rooms upstairs outside and exterior upstairs look neglected and uninviting. And for heaven’s sake, have some wash cloths for the guests who need them. Enjoyed my stay though.

Great room for the price
Great room for the price, clean, service was amazing and nicely furnished. Only downside would be very loud at night as we were over the pub garden. That said it’s great to see a local pub thriving and providing weekend entertainment for all ages. Nothing a pair of earplugs didn’t sort out 👍

We had a lovely room overlooking the courtyard. The bed was very comfortable and the staff very friendly. Whitchurch is a charming little town and the White Hart is right in the centre.

Shabby and over priced.
Hotels messed up our booking which didn't get off to a good start. Be aware the hotel does not offer breakfast included. Rooms are clean but shabby. Our room had a big window that looked onto flats on the lithe side of the road, there was no privacy curtain up so we ended up with the big curtains shut when we were getting ready each day. My brothers room had what seemed like a waste pipe running through it which was ridiculous. The traffic outside was really loud. People were standing outside smoking and shouting until midnight. There is a clock tower opposite which sounds every hour. We paid more than we were quoted and this didn't include breakfast. On the plus side the evening meal and breakfast were very nice. Think they've tried for shabby chic but just managed shabby. Without breakfast included I really wouldn't pay more than £60 a night for the room. Will not be returning.

Couldn’t recommend enough!
Brilliant stay, helpful friendly staff. Great location for the Clock Barn wedding venue (about ten minutes in a taxi). The staff were great recommending local taxi firms. The White Hart had everything we needed to make the stay pleasurable.

The pub was great, service was excellent and they were very helpful in swapping my room to upgrade (additional guest) and speedy with breakfast as we had to leave early. The burger was amazing in the evening.

Amazing staff!
Thanks to the lovely staff who were really accommodating, I had a great time. From the greeting in reception, to the waiting and cleaning staff! All were very friendly. I asked to change room as it was roadside and I am a light sleeper. There wasn’t even a hint of it being a problem!

We booked the White Hart pub as it was a convenient place to stay after our visit to the Bombay Sapphire distillery. The room was a little dated but very clean and the bed comfortable. It’s an old pub so the floorboards upstairs in the room are creaky but this all adds to the character of the place!! The food in the restaurant was delicious and obviously home cooked…not the type of food you would get in some pubs!! The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you!! I would certainly come back again if I needed somewhere convenient to stay to visit the Bombay sapphire distillery!!

It was an old building and obviously had a lot of history. Landlady Nicky was welcoming and extremely helpful. Ideal location for the Bombay Gin distillery visit. Room was a fantastic size, bathroom was large and clean. The bed was a good size and extremely comfortable. The linen and towels were of high quality. Log fire burning in the bar. Excellent choice of drinks and even had a mulled wine. Breakfast was brilliant, good service and a great way to start the new day. Thank you 😊

Good sized clean and comfortable room.
A good location, large room was clean and comfortable. Only downside was the room was not serviced so after a day out we had to chase to replenish our tea and toiletries, but this was sorted very quickly.

White Hart Arkells Whitchurch
Lovely old Pub/Inn where we stayed for one night to visit Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery (short distance by bus) and then Highclere Castle the next day (Downton Abbey). Very friendly and helpful staff (they told us about the bus to the distillery), very small car park but there is free local parking only 5 minutes walk. The room was a bit tired, the shower was really awful it just spat out a drickle of water. The TV was tiny only about 20". The bed was reasonably comfortable and there was tea and coffee and a little chocolate brownie (only 1 so we had to fight for it). Dinner in the evening was excellent we both had the Marlon Brando burgers (there is a whole menu just for burgers) and they were excellent value 2 for £22. Drinks were reasonably priced and there was entertainment in the bar that evening. Breakfast menu has plenty of choice but we only had muffins and coffee (a massive mug of the stuff and you could have refills) because we were still full from the burgers. I would stay there again but only if they improve the shower, we were in an annex building so it may be that the rooms above the pub have better showers.

Beautiful old pub in a lovely quiet village, with period features, traditional rooms, great shower! Extremely friendly staff and a fantastic breakfast. Thoroughly recommend.

Right in the centre of the town. Was met by the owner who could not have been more friendly or helpful. Comfortable room with it’s own huge en-suite toilet. Breakfast was excellent and hearty. Would recommend a stay. Thank you.
