“Do Not Book This Hotel”
This hotel is very old. Uncomfortable beds and silverfish in the bathroom.
“Run down but reasonable”
The hotel is badly in need of a make-over. It's also located next to a pub which, for two nights, went on loudly until about midnight. On the other nights the pub had an annoying loud fan that was constant. Though none of this may be heard depending on what room you have. I think some rooms were without a bathroom, so be careful which tyoe of room you opt for. The breakfast was very good. Plenty to choose from and could go back for more if you wanted. The staff were very nice, i was staying there to do some exams in the centre and the manager kept me going with coffee and biscuits one afternoon, they also gave me something to sit on one afternoon when it was sunny and I wanted to read in the nearby park. The hotel is good as a convenient stop over, I wouldn't recommend for a romantic getaway. Also, just down the road is a lovely Thai restaurant called The King and I, very nice food and service and very reasonably priced.
“Don't stay here”
Horrible. This hotel was built in 1800 and shows every bit its age. From the creaky floors, dirty carpet, to the small, forbidding rooms I give this 2 thumbs down! How this hotel escaped scrutiny is beyond my comprehension. Ensuite refers to the bathroom and I was assured I had a full bath in my room when I booked. I actually had a sink and that was it. The bathroom on my floor had no shower, just a bathtub and sink. Th nearest shower was at the other end of the hotel which was an adventure as this place has obviously been added on to many times over the last 200 years.
