Centre of the Town

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Pros: Location, facilities and restaurant.
Location: Walks to quay and bird sanctuary. Restaurants. Bars. Shops. Isle of Wight.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Stanwell House Hotel. Although quiet, it is centrally situated in the town centre and therefore close to all amenities. The harbour/quay is a stones throw away. The bird sanctuary is no more than a 15 minute walk as is the station and ferry terminal for boats to the Isle of Wight. We dined in the restaurant and were provided with a range of excellent food.

Great location well maintained hotel

Posted 31-Jul-2014
Pros: Location and style.
Cons: Not much
Location: In High Street - with shops, pubs, river, restaurants all close by
Stanwell House is right in the middle of Lymington and even has the benefit of a small car park on the opposite side of the road -about 1 minute walk. Not sure if this can cater for all guests when busy. Described as a boutique hotel this is an old building that has been tastefully extended, our room had modern fittings and was well maintained. Due to a busy schedule we did not eat there but all public areas looked good. Reception staff most helpful and a small problem with the booking before our stay was dealt with in a professional way

Nice getaway

Posted 28-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is very conveniently located but car park is very small. Our room was pleasant and the only criticism was that the shower handset didn't work properly. Hotel actually said that, if we had booked direct we would have got breakfast included for the same price.

Great location to stay in Lymington

Posted 19-Jun-2014
Pros: Location, quirky layout, nice lounge area, quiet. Dog friendly not that we have a dog.
Cons: More comfortable mattress and pillows
Location: Near the harbour, walking distance to lots of pubs and restaurants. 10 mins away from Milford on Sea
We wanted to stay somewhere that was close to bars and restaurants so we didn't have to drive in the evening. Stanwell House is right on the high street. We had a garden view room on the first floor so it was very quiet. Not sure it could be the same for the rooms on the front. When we arrived we were upgraded to a suite which was a nice surprise. Room 17 has a bedroom, bathroom and lounge area which gave us that extra bit of room and comfort. The decor was stylish and everything was clean. The staff were really polite and helpful. The bed was really uncomfortable but we have a memory foam mattress and pillows at home so I always struggle with the beds in hotels. The hotel is walking distance to lots of pubs and restaurants.

do stay in room 31

Posted 28-May-2014 on Hotels.com
You cannot stand up in this room. there is a gap at the headboard end of the bed were there is a 6" gap between the bed and the wall and the pillows get swallowed up in it. As you get out of bed there is just enough room to stand up if you are 4 foot tall its in the attic, how can they sell this as a double room and try and charge £150 per night where is the hotel inspector when you need one
