hotel clean but a some areas in need of a little renavation, enjoyed the location close to the New forest NP. A few small towns closeby and close to coast. Enjoyed the stay.

A great place for a weekend break

Posted 09-Jun-2015
Pros: The Hotel is situated between the coast and the New Forest making it a very good base for seeing the surrounding areas.
Cons: Hotel is a bit tired but very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful
Location: We went to the beach at Milford which is stony and the beach at Highcliffe which is sandy also visited Beaulieu and Exbury Gardens and the New Forest
We booked this Hotel for a weekend break and were very pleased we did the breakfast was freshly cooked and served piping hot. We also had an evening meal on two nights and again this was very good

Nice hotel, convenient location

Posted 25-Apr-2015
Pros: The location mainly. It was very quiet and the staff friendly. Our room was very large.
Cons: Decor was a bit tired but clean. Our shower was hot but the spray was not brilliant!
Location: Tennis, beach, good pubs and restaurants, quaint villages to explore and the New Forest!
Stayed here for 2 nights while playing a tennis tournament at Milford. Also visited Brockenhurst and the rest of the New Forest.

Like a comfortable pair of old slippers

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: the comfortable atmosphere
Cons: The bar closing at 10pm. Although we aren't in our first flush of youth we aren't ready for Horlicks at 10pm.!!
Location: We only stayed one night but did walk down to the village, which had a general shop and a pub.
Whilst we had a pleasant one night stay, the hotel is beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Stains on wall paper, carpets frayed etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and though it was very nice it was over priced.

A pleasant, old fashioned place.

2 nights in March 2015. Must have been quite grand in it's day but looking tired and needing money spent. I noticed that it is for sale so that's not going to happen soon. I felt that it was understaffed, the staff there were friendly, helpful and efficient but obviously wanted to 'wind things down' after about 9pm. However, if you're over a certain age (65+) just want a peaceful, quiet time with pleasant service in nice surroundings - this could be for you.

Excellent hotel in a lovely location

Posted 12-Mar-2015 on Hotels
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay in this hotel. Having read the mixed reviews, we were somewhat sceptical - however, we found the hotel charming - the traditional style of the hotel seemed completely fitting. The surroundings were clean and inviting. The staff at the hotel were excellent - always cheerful and eager to help. The breakfast waitress was outstanding, and the breakfast was wonderful. We found this hotel good value for money, would happily recommend it to friends and would stay there again. We are loathe to enter any negative statement, but were mystified as to why the bathroom has been allowed to become so shabby and poorly maintained, when the hotel clearly places a high value on the standard of other aspects. We would respectfully suggest to the hotel that if they do not want to fund bathroom replacements it would be well worthwhile overhauling the bathrooms one by one. We feel the hotel would then be perfect.

bien mais un peu oldies...

Je suppose que hors saison, les horaires sont plus restreints mais restaurant qui ne sert plus après 21h00 c'est un peu juste. Un petite rafraichissement des chambres ne ferait pas de mal non plus.
