Comfortable stay

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: We've had bigger breakfasts, half a small slice of black pudding is a bit extreme! Would be worth improving Wifi throughout.
Location: Good access to the coast from Lymington to Bournemouth. Good choices for food in Milford.
Quite a small hotel with comfortable facilities if a slightly dated feel although that was not really a problem. Dog friendly. Although the room information said that Wifi was not available, the room we had (no 2) was close enough to the router to be able to pick up and others on that side of the hotel might be able to as well.

Tired hotel as were the staff, no fresh fruit for breakfast, soft old beds - desperate for a make over!

Good budget hotel

Posted 25-Jun-2014
Pros: Staff in particular were very good.
Modest price matched by modest facilities. Room was clean. Choice of ensuite or shared facilities. Breakfast minimal continental, just croissants, yoghurt and fruit. Staff very freindly and good Thai food is available from the bar.

Lovely grounds and character property

Posted 15-Jun-2014
Pros: Rooms were big and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The hotel has character, not minimalist and dull
Cons: Decor is tired and bathrooms could do with updating. although functional.
Location: Location is just outside village of Milford on Sea, walking distance - variety of pubs to eat in, recommend 'Smugglers'. Short drive to great beaches
Overall a good experience, the staff were friendly and helpful and the weather good..

Posted 18-Feb-2014
Pros: Tranquil and relaxing
Location: New forest on your doorstep coastline and walks plenty of shops in Lymington
Hotel bit dated but clean haven't seen avocado bathsuite for long time! But refreshingly relaxed and big rooms, attentive service and good food, took me back 30 yesrs and pleasantly surprised grounds hotel nestling in. No wifi but for get away perfect! Take time out and no hurry venue.

Hotel is very dated but clean

Posted 04-Jan-2014
Pros: It was well situated
Cons: It definitely needs a refurb, but most important the staff need to be seen to be enjoying their guests & communicate with them! A smile costs nothing
Location: Very well situated for all local tourist attractions
Unfortunately the staff are a real disappointment. When we were booking out we were not even asked if we had enjoyed our stay etc, it was most strange! We had to go to reception to get service at the bar we ordered a bar meal but she said she would have to go & get a pen & paper & we didn't see anyone again for 20 minutes!! However, she must have placed our order as it arrived after 25 minutes!! We decided to eat out the next night rather than risk the strange ways of the staff!

Dated and unwelcoming

Posted 12-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed here for two nights. Booked a double bed room through hotels.com but was told there was none available and we had to settle for two beds. We found both the day and night women on reception to be abrupt and unwelcoming. Breakfast was ok but any special requests didn't go down well. We are younger guests and this may have been the issue, other guests were old and seemed to be treated differently. Rooms were very dated and in need of tlc. Overall I didn't perceive this hotel as value for money. Location was good and close to main areas of the forest.
