“Away from the Centre”

The hotel is modern on a retail /business park close to motorways and therefore you need to taxi or drive into historic part. However quality of room (twin Queen beds) and food (dinner and breakfast) in our view made drive worthwhile. The only adverse comments are that pool is very small and some chemical aroma from pool permeates atrium area leisure complex shares with restaurant. However our Premier football team called in for lunch - so they must rate it.

“Good although out of town”

The Marriott Portsmouth is like many other Marriotts so if you know the chain don't expect too much that is different. It was well maintained and well run - all in all very good. The main communal parts, restaurant, bar and swimming pool are all under the same roof, not separated so - smells and noises tend to pervade all areas. It can be distracting if you trying to have a quiet drink in the bar. There is not much to do locally, it is a few miles out the centre of Portsmouth.

Easy to find hotel, which lives up to to it's 4 star rating. Highly recommended, especially if looking for somewhere to stay before or after a ferry crossing.

We only stayed one night but it was great the room was large,spacious and scrupulously clean. They staff were great with my two children (5year old and 1 year old)and they received some treats. We managed to go swimming twice and all the facilities were modern and clean. At breakfast there was lots to choose from to suit even the fussiest of eaters. As soon as we left my 5 year old asked my husband to turn round the car so we could go back! So we plan to go back next month.

All staff (front counter, room service, cleaning) were sincerely and superbly professional, friendly and willing to go the extra mile. I firmly believe staff courtesy and efficiency can make or break any hotel experience. Top marks for a great hotel team who obviously cared about their customers. Thanks! Check In and Out time was very minimal and painless. Car parking was ample and well lit. Hotel located very near a Krispy Kreme doughnut store. Nice holiday treat for a sweet snack or quick breakfast to start a great day out. Hotel is very near Queen Alexandra Accident & Emergency Hospital should the worst happen.
