Good location - nothing special

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Pros: The location
Cons: Most facilities need investment
Location: Many places reasonably accessible
WiFi inaccessible from rooms; shower head slid down when using maximum water flow; carvery food overcooked; limited brasserie menu abd disappointing.

Very good experience at this excellent hotel. Can't fault it on anything. Of special note are the spa, range of treatments available, decor throughout hotel, cleanliness, food and polite staff

Some good some bad

The hotel itself was fantastic unfortunately it was let down by its staff, not a particularly friendly welcome and the lads in the sports bar were pretty hopeless too, shame because everything else around the hotel was superb. The room was fantastic.

I have seen the lights!

Posted 09-Mar-2015 on Hotels
Excellent Rooms, but no fridge or bottles of water.... but, minor gripe... could live with that. Didn't need a gym as was room about a quarter of a mile walk from reception! - still... totally acceptable. Good food in restaurant, great value for the quality. loved the fishcakes & Carvery. Staff could not have been more helpful, absolutely excellent. BUT WHATS GOING ON WITH THE CR*P DISCO LIGHTS EVERYWHERE? I've worked in nightclubs for over 20 years as an engineer, if you use coloured lights, you can link them all together using a system called DMX, which means they could synchronise to possibly create smooth subtle waves, changing colour in a way that matches the laid-back atmosphere of the bar and restaurant. These lights do not do that, these lights are set on automatic colour change mode between primary colours, that make the public areas look like a 7 year old's birthday party disco. I DONT NEED THESE WHEN TRYING TO HAVE A (really quite nice) MEAL! JUST BLOODY TURN THEM OFF!!!!!! Breakfast was lovely without them on, the ambience of the dining area was good, even the quirky decor was quite entertaining, the bar looked very welcoming in the daytime. ITS NOT A RAVE, ITS A RESTAURANT, BUT EVEN AT A RAVE, THE LIGHTS WOULD STILL BE CR*P!.
