“Good stay”
enjoyed my stay
“Happy with the hotel”
Excellent breakfasts - I am a vegetarian and I was very happy with the cooked selection on offer. Small but satisfactory swimming pool. Adequate gym. Rooms spacious and clean. Friendly staff but mostly French!
“Very convenient to dock for cruise line.”
This hotel offered a basic clean and comfortable room. The restaurant served a good meal at a reasonable price. The service at the reception desk and the dining room was very efficient and friendly. It was walking distance to the cruise line dock.
“Good location”
Stayed for the Southampton Boat Show - easy walking distance, and there are plenty of shops, restaurants, cinemas etc near to the hotel, plus its right across from Southampton Central train station. Rooms are typical Novotel - compact, comfortable, well equipped. Breakfast buffet is good, but a little pricey, wifi, gym, restaurant and bar were all fine. Only problem was the lifts, which only worked intermittantly - they were working on them as I checked out.
“Comfort in concrete”
Southampton Novotel is at best unprepossessing as you approach it through the concrete jungle of roads and even uglier buildings from the station which is only a couple of hundred yards away. But once inside the welcome is warm and the decor the usual bright minimalist spaciousness of Novotel. The room is clean, spacious and well-equipped. Towels are more generous than those used to French 3 stars will expect. Breakfast is adequate though poor value. The scrambled eggs have an anaemic pallor and swim in hot water and there are no boiled or poached eggs on the menu. Croissants and baguettes are disappointingly heavy... not the standard you expect from Accor Hotels.
“Pretty Ok hotel, located in a convenient location.”
Hotel is pretty ok for the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. Quite noisy up to about 1:30 am as there was a charity meal at the time, would be a pain if it happened every night.
“Perfect for our little break”
Wanted a relatively inexpensive hotel to stay in when visiting the neighbouring New Forest and the Novotel Southampton certainly delivered! Close to the train station and shops with very friendly service and a comfortable room. The fitness facilities were really great, but it was unfortunate that we had to go through reception to get there - not sure how anyone would want to see my sweaty post-workout body! The cost of the meals was pretty steep which was a shame since there was also no means to cook/warm any food in the room but other than that, my partner and I were very satisfied with our stay.
“Close to the ship”
The hotel is close to the cruise terminal, train station and bus drop off in Southampton. The shopping centre is also very close. Good location for people catching a ship and wanting to stay a night or two in Southampton. Close to tourist attractions along the the sea front.
“You know what to expect from Novotel”
Predictable high quality, excellent breakfast. Complicated location.
“Totally overpriced, no air conditioning.”
On the website this hotel said fully air conditioned but there is actually no airconditioning in the rooms!! The swimming pool is tiny and overlooked by everyone in the gym. My bed was very old and I found a baby's dummy underneath it as well as a couple of hairs in my bed when I lifted the duvet. I expected a lot more from this hotel especially at the price, I feel it should be up with the top in the area but unfortunately it fell far short!!!
