“Jurys Southampton”

The price and condition of the hotel was exactly as advertised. The location was good, but there was a lot of traffic in the area. On departure the taxi and limo parking was very congested, and caused some delays.

Area recommendations

See the old walled city.

Must see

See as much of Southampton as possible. There is lots of history, and a little pre-stay investigation is very helpful.

“A very nice hotel in a very dodgy area”

This is a very nice hotel; everything is clean and well kept, and up to the standards you'd expect. It's not special (budget hotel style you get what you pay for), but for a place to stay for a night or two on business it is great. The only down points for me are that the hotel - Charges for wifi - Charges for parking as it does not have it's own car park - Is in a really grim area of Southampton (and that's saying something). The breakfast was adequate, but overall it was an acceptable place to stay, if yoiu don't want to wonder outside.

“Very good value in Southampton UK”

We had a quiet, clean, comfortable room at a very reasonable price. Only downside was lighting in the room was poor. Nice hotel restaurant. Very helpful staff. Taxis from the hotel are really the only way to get around--roads surround the hotel and inhibit walking.

Area recommendations

For shopping, go to West Quay. Very impressive.

“3 night pre-cruise stop-over”

We'd booked our package in January and received the Valentines special, although our stay was in October, the Jury's staff were great and honoured the deal which included evening meal and breakfast for each night - food was great. The hotel is central all the shops are close, with plenty of restaurants and bars close to the hotel. We took a trip up to London 1 hour 20 mins on the train, what a great break.

“Convenient for town centre but nothing special”

We stayed in Southampton to visit friends in the locality, and Jury's was convenient for that. The major problem was parking - although there is a below-ground NCP car park immediately under the hotel, it wasn't easy to find (follow directions to the Charlotte Street car park). As a public car park, you aren't guaranteed a space and between 12 noon and 2 pm on Fridays each week (apparently) it is full, because of people parked to visit the local mosques at Prayer time - just when we arrived! We asked for a room near the top of the hotel and were pleased to be given one on the top floor, so relatively quiet given the location on a roundabout with lots of traffic throughout the day/night

Area recommendations

The walk around the city walls was lovely (pick up a leaflet from the info office), as was the local park.

“Safe option”

Hotel staff friendly and very helpful, accommodated our request to have a quiet room at the end of a corridor. Room was large and clean, bath a little on the small side and the decor plain, but fine for the one night we were staying. Think slightly overpriced, but hotels in Southamptom seem to be at a premium.

“Can't fault it.”

Very central, confortable, hotel. Good efficient reception. There is a car park underneath the hotel which we did not know about until we arrived at reception. The car park rates are high but hotel guests get a discount.

Other

The Red Funnel ferry to the Isle of Wight makes a very pleasant cruise down Southampton Water.

“breakfast buffet”

the hotel offered a bounteous buffet, including all the necessary components of the 'full english breakfast.' everything was freshly cooked and constantly replenished. the reception and managerial staff were always present and very willing to offer assistance in any matter. located across from a beautiful park and close to larger shopping venues, in addition to small shops in the immediate neighborhood. nice view from room.

“Great before cruise hotel”

We stayed at the Jurys Inn for one night prior to embarking on a cruise out of Southampton. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We paid for the buffet breakfast which included all of the usual items: eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, fruit, etc. The dining room was comfortable, clean and the food items fresh and hot. Although the hotel rooms are somewhat spartan, for the price I felt they provided excellent value. The air conditioning in the room was more than adequate for our comfort. The location was nice with a large park across the street and we were able to walk everywhere and get a good look at the town. A cab from the hotel with tip came to 9 pounds. I would stay at the Jurys Inn again.
