Hotel good, staff very good

Although the picture shows the main building, rooms are actually in addition barn like building facing out to a pleasant terrace. However they need sound proofing, I could hear TV in the adjacent rooms and even hear other guests snoring! Room was not as clean as I would like, too much dust. TV is on the wall but the way it's done prevents you using the remote control. I had an issue with lost car keys and the duty manager was very helpful and attentive. Hotel has a large woodland garden available to guests, I walked or ran its perimeter daily.

This was a visit south to see family & friends

Pros: Good location
Cons: TV subtitiles!
Location: Location was quiet, away from main roads etc. on heathland. Easy access to local facilities in Wickham. Good access to the Portsmouth, Southampton
Hotel staff were fine. Disappointed that the restaurant was fully booked on Saturday when we arrived. Very disappointed that the TV did not have a subtitles facility as I am hard of hearing. Turning the volume up to a level that I can hear is rather antisocial in a hotel environment

More information

We arrived at reception and were welcomed with a friendly smile. My wife is in a wheelchair and we would have liked better information on disabled access around the complex. We were directed to our room were there was no ramp ,the ramp was elsewhere .Good access to the breakfast room with wide ramps and helpful staff, we were told about this.Access to the swimming pool around the building not told about that.Leisure attendant very pleasant but allowing non disabled members to use the disabled room .even when my wife was in the room.Excellent breakfast and a nice snack in the room took 45mins to arrive though.I would stay there again.Good warm room.

New Place hotel

Disappointed that we weren't staying in the manor house as the advert gives the wrong impression and didn't show the cabin that you stay in. Walls are incredible thin. However, lovely comfortable rooms in a great location, perfect for a weekend away.

Nice old house...shame about the rest

Pros: Leaving...I booked in for 2 nights but had to leave after the first night and booked into a premier inn at Southampton airport.
Cons: Demolish and start again.
Location: I get the reason for the design with the listed building, but don,t use this as an excuse for crap rooms. This is an opportunity. Invest!
Very disappointing. The booking page looks really good. Have stayed with this chain before but not at this location...will not be returning...ever. This is like a 60's holiday camp. The rooms open to the outside in long rows. Really thin walls. The pillows smell. The floor is filthy.parking was a mare. Disgusting hotel.

Good Hotel

The nice building which is on the advert is not where your room will be. Only their restaurants are their. The rooms are at the back. They have a nice lounge where you get free refreshment all day long.

Disappointing

I would not stay here again. The pictures do not accurately reflect the buildings used for accommodation. The ground floor "sheltered housing" style rooms didn't even have a curtain that covered all of the window. Amazingly the hotel was fully booked.

NICE COUNTRY SETTING WITH PLENTY TO SEE AND VISIT.

Posted 12-Feb-2015 on Hotels.com
I HAVE STAYED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS DUE TO SITUATION OF HOTEL. CAN SATELLITE OUT TO SO MANY INTERESTING PLACES FROM THE HOTEL. HOTEL IS IN A VERY NICE COUNTRY SETTING, WITH THE MAIN HOUSE HAVING MUCH HISTORY. MOST ROOMS ARE LOCATED IN THE LODGES AND THEREFORE BE AWARE IF THE WEATHER IS BAD AND GETTING TO AND FRO TO THE RESTAURANT, BAR AND LEISURE FACILITY. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE CLEANLINESS OF THE ROOMS, AS THIS HAS GOT WORSE FROM PREVIOUS STAYS. MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE DETAIL AND CHECK THE STANDARD OF THE CLEANING AND THE BUILT UP DUST ETC IN AREAS OF THE ROOM. RESTAURANT MEALS ARE OF GOOD QUALITY AND THE BAR AREA IS VERY PLEASANT TO ENJOY A RELAXING DRINK. I DO LIKE THE VENUE AND JUST HOPE THE MANAGEMENT KEEP UP THE STANDARDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DE VERES NAME. PLENTY OF PARKING SPACES, EVEN THOUGH SOME ARE A TREK FROM THE ACCOMMODATION. THANK-YOU.
