Lovely

Posted 02-Dec-2014
A stunning setting. Hotel staff were really welcoming. The room was lovely; clean and comfortable. Menu was reasonably priced but we didn't get chance to try anything. Free wifi!! I would unhesitatingly recommend and book again. Better than a recent 5* stay!!

Paper thin walls

Posted 24-Nov-2014
The room I stayed in was in one of the blocks, not the main building. They were obviously thrown up for a purpose, which is as a course venue. Single rooms, which is unusual, but that's what you need for this purpose. But it looks a bit shabby and worn. And more importantly, the walls are paper thin. I could hear people running baths. I could hear my neighbour, who for some unknown reason was on his mobile all night. I wouldn't recommend staying here, for the same price you could stay in a premier Inn with a bigger room, nicer decor and a good night's sleep without hearing your neighbours.

Pas de chambre dans le château

Posted 11-Nov-2014

stopover after ferry crossing

Posted 18-Oct-2014
Pros: Bed and peaceful surroundings.
Cons: Biscuits on the tea/coffee tray!
Very comfortable bed - had a great sleep. There was some noise from returning guests but this quickly settled - we were in a room that was on the path between the main house and the other rooms. We had room only as we used it after coming over from France on the late ferry. Would have liked to have a look round grounds and facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful - especially when we couldn't find the place in the dark and rain. Would certainly stay again.

Manor house beautiful but the accomodation less so

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Efficient service, pleasant staff. TV had poor picture and rooms not particularly well soundproofed. Excellent breakfast. I arrived late at night and in the rain. Not ideal to have to walk outside from reception and try to follow a map in the dark to find the bedroom in the rain. Signs could be clearer. Overall, good value but not as luxurious as the pictures of the manor house might suggest. Having said that, I didn't get a chance to explore the leisure facilities so can't comment on those.

Quiet location

Posted 06-Oct-2014
As usual, over priced meals in the restaurant meant it was empty apart from 4 or 5, hence no atmosphere and no more customers. Tried the bar meal which was pretty awful, quit a few of the guests went into Wickam to a proper restaurant. When will hotels ever learn to charge reasonable prices, serve freshly prepared meals and keep their hard-won customers in the hotel. Don't think I'll return in a hurry. Shame really.

Amazing!

Posted 05-Oct-2014
Pros: The way it was like a appartment not a hotel room. Security patroled. I liked everything.
Cons: TV angle for remote was too high, so was abit annoying and the leisure centre was closed which was a disappointment but sometimes cant be helped
Location: Didnt go out the hotel.
I really loved this hotel. It was like renting a house for the night, rather then a room in a hotel with doors shutting. I cannot rate this hotel enough. Decent price for a Friday, just really really different, I felt like I was a million miles from home. Peaceful. I just can't rate it enough. It was not what I was expecting at all. LOVED the fact it was not a "normal" hotel!!! I really really loved this hotel. I would visit again tomorrow!!!
