“Why Stay Anywhere Else”
This is the second time I have stayed at the Sofitel Hamburg Alter Wall and I would recommend to everyone. Check out the Pool and Spa.
“Excellent hotel”
I was looking for a good hotel to spend a short break with my wife and the Sofitel fited the bill completely. The staff were courteous and helpful throughout and the rooms were clean, spacious and well-appointed. The location - near the town hall and the Alster lake was excellent. I would certainly recommend this hotel, it is a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. Make sure you try out the pool!

“One to return to again & again”
This is a classy boutique style hotel with all the amenities you would expect for a 5*. The room was spacious & very comfortable, overlooking one of the canals. The bathroom was roomy & well equipped with a double walk-in shower & separate bath. The luxurious complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. As mentioned on several previous reviews, the only negative was the high cost for breakfast. At 26 euros each during our visit, it wasn't good value for money unless you have a huge appetite, which we don't. Instead, we ate at the local Starbucks which was only 3 or 4 minutes walk from the hotel entrance. The location of the hotel is perfect & very central, just tucked down a quiet street at the side of the Town Hall. We went on this trip to sample the Christmas markets which were awesome - especially the main one in front of the Town Hall. We will definitely be repeating this trip again & will also visit in the Summer as Hamburg is a lovely city & there is so much to do on a city break here. Highly recommended !!!
“One Hamburg's Best”
Hotel and location ideal to see Hamburg with walking distance. Access to public transport also excellent. Rooms could do with tea & coffee making facilities.

Really comfortable stay in central Hamburg. Superb pool and spa facilities. My only gripe would be that at 26 euros the breakfast is over-priced.
“Winter Hamburg”
Excellent hotel - as always with Sofitel but breakfast is expensive. Plenty of coffee shops around. Nice pool for February. Wonderful history but they could make more of it.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Only downer was 2 single beds pushed together instead of a double.
“Be aware!!!!!”
Although the hotel was centrally located and of a very clean and neat appearance, the biggest dissappointment was that never did the reception staff make mention that the car park in the hotel grounds was a "public" car park and not belonging to the hotel. I was presented with a bill for 24 euros for the car park facility for the night. I would have been easier and cheaper to park on the street opposite the hotel where car parking spaces were available.
“Alright”
Really lovely location. Friendly staff at reception. Slightly worn hotel room with stains on carpet, throw and curtains. Not really what I expect of a 5 star hotel. Odd "window" in bathroom that is visible from the main room. Uncomfortable and strange design feature. Bathroom small. Quiet though and perfect if you get an Expedia bargain. Wouldn't choose this hotel if I had to pay full price.
