“A pleasant surprise”
We stayed here one night for a "girls night" and were extremely pleased with our choice. It's proximity to the waterfront were key since it was Halifax's Natal Day, so a weekend of concerts, fireworks, and celebrations along the boardwalk. The hotel is located across the street from the harbourfront and our room had a magnificent view of just that. The hotel is approx. one year old so everything is nice and new.The rooms are a good size, color scheme is pretty, bathrooms are BIG, and the shower was fabulous. There is also a nice outdoor patio on the 8th floor which overlooks the water. So an early morning coffee while watching the activity on the water is a nice way to start the day. There is a breakfast area but we chose to go to Cabin Coffee around the corner. They have great coffee and food...especially the breakfast bars and cinnamon rolls. We have stayed in several hotels around the Halifax area and this has become our new favorite!!
“Close to downtown and restaurants / Everything within walking distance”
The lobby has a friendly ambience to it. Nice atmosphere. Reception was not very friendy. Valet parking was excellent.
“Great location”
This hotel is where you would want to be in Halifax. It is near the wharf, lots of restaurants, and shopping.
“Recommended!!!!!!!!!”
Godd value.
“Good hotel but beware deposit...”
Overall, a great hotel with fast, friendly valet service and helpful front desk staff. However, I booked and paid for the hotel in advance and travelled to Halifax on a quick overnight trip. I was not told that I would have to present the credit card used to book the room when I arrived - which I did not have. The staff informed me that I could not check in without it unless I paid a hefty deposit. It took me half an hour to sort it out and they eventually agreed to a lower deposit - I think they only took pity on me because I was travelling alone with my two children. The fire alarm was pulled three times by teenagers and I had hoped the hotel would be able to catch them, but to no avail. I was also a little perturbed that there were no toasters to be found in the hotel, although the staff did check for one for me. I wish I had been informed about the check-in policy and $20.00 charge for valet parking beforehand but, otherwise, a nice hotel with a cute little pool and clean, comfortable rooms. I noticed other guests complaining about downtown noise but I didn't notice. I used to live in Halifax and the Courtyard is definitely one of the best hotel buys in the city.
“Great hotel / location”
Great location but my only complaint is a lack of parking associated with the hotel. You can use the valet at a cost of $15 / night.
“Close to everything”
I liked the location of the hotel, just walking distance from the harbour. Since it was my first time in Halifax it was a great place to stay.
“Great Place”
Was a great stay! Never stayed in a hotel a quiet as this one. Also very nice rooms, and valet parking.
“Good Place to Stay”
This hotel is ideal for the its location by the boardwalk. I have stayed here before and would go back. My two critisisms of this trip are that my room did not become available until 4.30pm. The breakfast we ordered on the second day had to be sent back even though we had waited a considerable time for it to appear. Any chef worth their salt would not have sent out breakfasts in the state they were in. No apology was given.
“Favorite hotel in Halifax”
An excellent place to stay.
