“Disgraceful!!”
The hotel was similar to that of a youth hostel..small dirty room..sweet papers under the bed & those trap things that are for 'silver fish'. Room located directly off Reception wich made it v noisey & staff did not seem to care how loudly they or anyone else spoke. Wen down for breakfast...past the open door toilets, smelt the room & walked straight back out...shower cubicle in bedroom did not have a light..only lighting wafrom 2 x lamps in the bedroom. Totally not worth the money..should be condmened & shut down!!
“Not Impressed”
This hotel reminded me of a hostel... it was very noisy (sound seemed to carry everywhere!), rooms were small, and not in the best location (would have preferred to be closer to downtown). The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there is a continental breakfast included with your stay. If you are looking for a place to crash for the night, this is a fine place to stay, but if you are looking for a more luxurious hotel (with amenities) right downtown, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
“Older 'Edwardian' Hotel at a Reasonable Price”
If you are looking for a contemporary 'bright' hotel this is not the place, but if you like modest 19th century decor in an authetic old building with wood and creaky floors, this is the place. The rooms feature modern bathroom fixtures (shower, basin, toilet); satellite Flatscreen TV, Wifi, Fridge, Coffeemaker, and Microwave. The hotel is not more than 15 minutes brisk walk to downtown Halifax or a 5 minute cab ride. Unfortunately, the airport shuttle doesn't stop at this hotel and there is no hotel restaurant but it's a small inconvenience. The hotel is not in a tourist area, but the price is more than reasonable. The staff is very friendly/customer service oriented, the rooms are exceptionally clean and it is a very quiet hotel. I recommend this place for anyone on a budget and will definitely stay at this place again.
“Hidden Gem”
The room may not have been the biggest we have stayed in; but' it was definitely the nicest in Halifax. There were no extra costs thrown at you like the other downtown hotels charge. Parking, WiFi and breakfast were all in included and price was extremely reasonable. We will definitely stay here again.
