“Atlantica Hotel”

Helpful, friendly staff. One thing missing is mini-bar and/or fridge in room.

Area recommendations

Spring garden Road area. This is the centre of the restaurant scene and has the best shopping.

Dining

Try Morriss East, absolutely delicious food including pizza from a wood fired oven.

“Middle of the Road”

This hotel is reasonably priced and is located close to the hospital and university. The main drawback is the beds are extremely soft. It felt like sleeping on a loaf of bread. Our room was on the second floor and overlooked the front roof with flags. It was windy and the flagpoles kept rattling. The heating system in the room is also extremely noisy and it was difficult to find the ideal temperature because the thermostat was not titrated.

Area recommendations

Had dinner at McKelvies. Historic Properties a nice area to shop. Point Pleasant Park a must.

“There are better choices in the area.”

We took this hotel because it was rated 3 1/2 (should be 2 1//2) stars and it was an unpublished rate. We got the room for a great price but it is NOT a convenient location (unless you are there for a function on The Commons). The parking is terrible or you can pay $17 a day to park underneath the hotel. It is on a very busy 5 way intersection, so you are always having to make a big circle to get in and out of the place. It is a very old hotel that has been renovated and renamed. I remember staying there 15 yrs ago. The ceilings are patched jobs covered with stucco which hardly helped at all. It looked like the room above us had flooded and chunks of the ceiling had fallen down ( room 611).

Area recommendations

The South End (downtown) because it is the heart of the city with most of the good restaurants, attractions, casino, small shops, touristy stuff

“Will definitely go back”

The hotel was really nice, many upgrades since the change in ownership from the holiday inn. The hotel was spotless, very friendly staff, delicious food! The only complaint would be that the bed was not overly comfortable. It is my understanding that they are still in the process of upgrading, so possibly we didn't have a room with a newer mattress. Will definitely stay again!

“Winter time road trip.”

We can't wait until the Oval is completed. We had a great view of it and decided that we would come back for skating on the Oval and stay in this hotel.

When to go

Go when the Oval is reading for skating. Make sure to get the room with the view of the oval.

“Not real good”

“Not exactly 5 star but good value”

My biggest issue with this hotel was parking, but that was because we had a big SUV and parking in the underground parking lot was not easy. If we had a regular car it would have been easier. Otherwise this hotel was great, lots of places to see nearby and lots of food and entertainment choices nearby.

“Excellent”

It is an excellent hotel. I just left my car at the hotel and walked to town. I have no complaints about it. All the employees were great. They all had a sense of humor and seemed to be enjoying trying to get to know me as a guest.
