A very nice resort. However, our stay was based on it's great location near a ropeway that allowed us to enjoy gorgeous views of Mt Fuji on a perfectly clear morning. We appreciated the front desk staff member who filled out all the necessary paperwork to get out luggage shipped to our Kyoto hotel. Since we arrived late, we decided on room service which provided a broad menu of what we discovered was quite delicious food. The next morning, the breakfast buffet had delicious selections.

The hotel is very remote from the city. There is a free hotel shuttle to the next small town which you could get some snacks. The hotel is beautiful and quiet and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Very helpful staff, they welcomed us and provided maps for the surrounding area as well as different activities to do with times included. The hotel was very spacious and included a Onsen which I regret not trying out, although I was told it was very relaxing and a great experience. The view outside my room overlooked the lake giving us a great view. There is also a couple restaurants in the hotel I had a course meal that was very delicious and the staff in the restaurant was very accommodating and helpful. Would stay here again if I come back to Hakone

Absolutely amazing 1st class property. From the moment you arrive the staff is welcoming and attentive. The entire facility is super clean and beautiful. The view of Mt Fuji is awe inspiring across the lake. It exceeded all my expectations and I will remember this stay forever.

I love the greenery around the hotel and its location next to the lake but the outdoor onsen is quite a distance from the rooms and having to walk there in the cold turned me off. Upon checking out I was annoyed that I had to pay a compulsory bath charge of 150 yen which I think is ridiculous considering that it costs more than 40000 yen to stay one night there. I was also annoyed by the hotel’s lack of response to my request to book the shuttle service from the train station when I messaged them before arrival. Had to telephone them from the train station.

I booked through expedia mentioning 2 adults and 2 children(13 and 7). But when i checked in , i was told i have to pay for 2 extra beds which increased my price by 113 USD. I had no other choice other than to pay. The hotel said , it did not register the age of the 2 children so they could not honor the price that expedia promised.

Aircon was not available so we had to open our balcony doors which were a bit dusty. The toilet drainage system had an issue when we drained the bathtub - hence the toilet floor was flooded. Staff were very good and it was a nice Onsen. However the hotel is quite old and should be renovated.

It is a lovely resort hotel and the staff was very helpful and welcoming. There is a shuttle bus that is able to pick you up free of charge from the train station. You have to book in advance but I highly recommend it as this hotel is not really close to anything and it makes it much easier. There were 3 of us sharing a room and it was a very large room with enough space for 3 and a lovely view. As this resort is a bit isolated at night and restaurants may not be open offsite, you might be stuck eating at 1 of their 3 restaurants. Warning that it is very expensive. 9000yen per person for the buffet dinner. Which, needless to say, is mediocre, as most buffets are. The beer in the room fridge is the cheapest on site. Onsen does not allow tattoos.

While this hotel is at some distance from Motohakone (20mins easy walk on a mostly flat road), we found the property absolutely gorgeous, the lakeside views priceless, and the onsen just perfect. It was my friend's first time at the onsen and he loved it! The service was also topnotch and the hotel restaurants were both very good (we tried the French cuisine as well as the traditional Japanese cuisine). I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for an all-inclusive, relaxing vacation in Hakone!

Restaurants timings are too short. One of the 3 restaurants should be able to accommodate people arriving late for check in. In room dinning experience was not good.

The property has a fantastic location right by Hakone Lake. However it is short staffed--for example the concierge desk and information desk are not staffed--and the rooms are in dire need of renovation. The room interior is worn and looks 40 years old

To begin with, the shuttle bus from Odawara station was 15-20 minutes late with no communication to us. The rooms and public spaces needed some tending to (worn carpets, AC that didn't work, etc.) There was no bar at the hotel--and the staff treated us like we were crazy for even asking. The buffet meals were fine--but definitely not for the price point. There were very limited options for things to do at the property (no public sitting room overlooking the lake, no seats outside to take in the scenery, etc.). The staff were not terribly hospitable--not rude, but definitely not concerned with hospitality. It is a hotel with great potential that is poorly managed. All in all, quite disappointing for the price (over $500/night).

The bath was attractive. The breakfast was Ok. The dinner was a joke. As we are vegetarian we were told vegetarian alternative would be available. We had salad (7-11-style bland as hell), corn (yes, corn!) soup, that most famous of French dishes, evidently from a can and sparingly scooped into a shallow bowl, boiled veggies, more of the same boiled veggies mixed with rice and labelled as risotto, a cheese plate each (for an additional 3600 yen) consisting of two yellow triangles of tasteless non-French plastic, a single small triangle of brie, two candied lumps and a dollop of blue, all accompanied with three tiny strips of yesterday's bread. The wine was excellent, the only French part of the evening. The restaurant was dull, pretentious and engulfed in silence, like a library, with an endless array of black and white suited waiters carrying small dishes around presenting them as if interesting. A dull evening was had by all. Most of the food we ate is available in family restaurants at a fraction of the price and there is no need to dress up and pretend you are having a French experience.

NO TATTOOS, ok I had to lead with that. This hotel has a traditional Japanese Onsen (hot spring spa). Participants enter nude, and must NOT have any tattoos. This is not advertised well, and we didn't know about it until we arrived. Well; my other half has a tat on his back and was so heartbroken that he was not allowed in the Onsen (the singular reason we stayed at this hotel). So anyway, just know this. There are other Onsen hotels that allow tattoos, so do your due diligence before you sign up. Now, that the tattoo thing is out of the way. We really enjoyed the area and many of the other amenities of the hotel. The staff were all amazing!

Located next to Hakone's signature Lake Ashinoko. A bit far from hakone-yumoto town but worth the stay. Love the trees, views, onsen, peace and quietness! But don't miss the last shuttle bus (7.30pm) at motohakone, or else you have to walk back to hotel in 30 to 35 mins, following a pitch black road/path along the lake!
