“Prince Hakone resort”
The hotel is a bit dated but comfortable . Out of the way but an ideal location for a relaxing getaway . Beautiful views all around lake Ashi . I took advantage of the spa treatment , which was superb and the Japanese restaurant . The food was delicious . Overall a pleasant stay.
“Beautiful location and relaxing onsen”
The hotel is in a beautiful location and we took advantage of the Hakone ropeway and Kamagotake Cable car (the base of this cable car is behind the hotel) to hike along the mountain paths at the top. The onsen had indoor and outdoor pools for each gender and were wonderfully relaxing (there are instructions available about the proper etiquette for using onsens if you've never been to one before). The restaurants in the hotel are pricey at the present exchange rate, and the quality of the food was good. We took a taxi to Moto Hakone, the nearest village to the hotel, for a pizza dinner one night - the taxi cost 1200 yen (one way) and dinner (2 pizzas, 1 bottle of wine) cost 7000 yen, so even eating in restaurant outside of the restaurant complex is expensive. On a clear day the views of Mount Fuji from the hotel are breathtaking.
“beautiful quiet restful off the beaten track hotel”
Hotel has a marvelous location on the front of the lake and as a guest the gratis use of the gender divided onsen (with a view of the lake). The hotel is dated but wonderfully maintained. One night was in early June and we utilized the hotel's excellent bus service to and fro the train station - should email hotel as to your expected arrival
“Good Hotel but the food is very expensive !”
Good Hotel but the food is very expensive !
“good service, helpful staff”
Beautiful grounds, clean, staff always willing to help. Annoyed at having to pay $5 for ice in room, everything shuts down early in evening and need car or cab to get anywhere at night other than restaurant. Generally enjoyed our stay there and considered staying an extra night, but wanted to move on to another part of the country.
“Bring your own food....”
This is a terrific hotel, set in the forest, overlooking the lake. The onsen is lovely and the rooms are large and comfortable. I would stay there again and I would recommend it.... However, the only restaurants in the hotel were very, very expensive - large, set meals starting at about $75 ($30 for breakfast). I did have lunch at the shops next door, but one curry meal a weekend is enough for me and there weren't many other options nearby. Since I only wanted a light evening meal, the set meals weren't an option, so that left me with limited choices for dinner. Breakfast was even worse, the coffee shop doesn't open until 9:30, and there is no morning room service. This left me with no options.
“Might probably go back.”
Happy with the hotel quality. Condition and cleanliness of the room are kept well. It's unfortunate that its location is quite far from Mt. Fuji viewing.
“See Mt. Fuji”
Overall, great accommodations and staff! My only gripe...the food at the hotel is expensive and not so good. The reason I mention this is there is no other place to eat nearby unless you get on a bus and travel 15 minutes and many places are closed after 6 pm. Bring some snacks and/or eat early.
“nice clean quiet environment with great hotel facility!”
everything is excellent for the price we paid the only downside is that the hotel is a bit far from Hakone machi, but good thing about it is it's very quiet....I especially enjoy a walk at dawn/dusk looking at the view of the lake, and Mt Fuji....excellent experience, no complaints
“nice hotspring inside the hotel”
hotel is nice, everything is good, except that there is only one busline that goes to the next city, not nearby city. location is not too convenient.
