Overall very good, the rooms are good and staff friendly, but I would make the dinner to look more simple like the hotel is. Had an impression that the staff was trying to make it posh, making you feel a bit uncomfortable, where the hotel itself is simple and nice.

we had a really nice apartment with a semi-outdoor kitchen area which was interesting but good. hotel staff were very disorganised though, when we first went into the hotel to ask where residence il borgo was, they just pointed us down the street. when we got to il borgo, there was a poster on the door saying check in is at the hotel, so we had to go back to the hotel. seemed a bit ridiculous that the hotel staff didn't say, are you here to check in, when we were looking for directions, as we hadn't realised that il borgo was a part of the hotel. staff were also disorganised after check in, when they had given us the key and we were just leaving the car park, when they came running after us looking for the expedia voucher, which i hadn't printed. despite this, the 2 members of staff looking after us were quite nice, and there were no issues with checkout.
The Santa Maria Resort is perfect if you want a relaxing break away from the stresses of modern work life.
You awake to the sound of birds singing, no traffic noise or pollusion and you are surrounded by nature.
The resort itself is lovely, very family orientated, we were there for two weeks and nothing was too much trouble for the Staff, who were so hard working and attended to all our needs, nothing was a bother for them.
The Hotel is situated ouside of the main town of Orosei, so transport is required, we walked into town in daytime but at night it is too dark and unlit to walk, so a taxi back at the very least, which we did and was an eye popping experience, as the staff called it a Ferrari but in truth it was a glorifed Golf Buggy, but great fun all the same!

I always choose this hotel when I go to Orosei. All my stays are for 1 night and they are pleasant. The rooms are comfy. Great shower with good pressure. A balcony and the chance to hang your beach towel for the next day to be ready to go.
Breakfast is ok, nothing special but good quality.
Staff friendly as a Sardinian can be... don't ask too much... we are in an island.

We had a great time here. A nice spacious room and bathroom, large bed, we got upgraded to a sea view. The main thing that amazed me was the value for money we experienced. For a 4 star hotel at the rates we got I was really impressed.
The only things that I'd mark the hotel down on are the distance to the beach (it's a 20 minute walk up a hill back from the beach - which is fine at first but by the end of the holiday was a bit of a drag) and the breakfast (and breakfast staff) which was fairly average.
But I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I thought it was great.
Beautiful location, food varied and was always very good, drinks and general service slow but adequate.
Due to the location, you need wheels if you intend to vacate the resort for anything. Taxis are painfully expensive and limited, think 240Euros for a 100km round trip :( a necessity if you go to clubs etc which are miles away! Noted for my next visit ;)
Huge resort, very nice but more a 3 star in terms of facilities and service. Limited English, but French spoken widely by staff at the front desk.
Entertainment staff seemingly never sleep, pleasant enough but it gets irritating when you get disturbed to talk about nothing in particular - very weird but I guess friendly. The shows were amateur and harmless but we were clueless to the intent as all Italian - not a whine but it had zero flow!
Some staff go the extra mile and are fantastique! Some are useless and rude but very few.
Pool and beach fabulous - overall very nice place.

Our room was 310 - views over the supermarket but it was really quiet at night. Self catering facilities and in the room were adequate and great if you really wanted to save money but we did not use them. We had a balcony with table and chairs. The bed was really firm (my only complaint) air con was available to control the temperature in the apartment. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were really helpful. Car park opposite, near the town and beaches a short drive away. Lovely restaurants and bars nearby.
Breakfast was what you'd expect in a budget European hotel and as it was included we took advantage every day, but it did get boring after a week.
Would recommend to families on a budget.
Nice and comfortable hotel, very friendly staff. Good location for starting a trips, a litle far the city center (but it does not mather). nice view, free parking and wifi.
Breakfast is not a good choice, you have to stay early morning - later you will be out of salami, cup, water, egg ... The staff do not manage to clean a table from previous guests.
Pocket Guide: Costa Smeralda Gulf of Orosei Hotels
This is perhaps the most spectacular gulf on the whole island. Framed by towering cliffs, indented with countless coves, clear, emerald green waters lap long, sandy beaches. In the north, Orosei lies among lush citrus and olive groves. The central Piazza del Popolo is ringed with splendid buildings, including the white-stuccoed church of San Giacomo. Marina di Orosei beach is a long crescent of golden sands fringed by fragrant pines.
