The worst hotel we ever been no central heating,very dirty the reception didn’t help at all this hotel doesn’t deserve half a star 🌟 not four star as it says on the website very very disappointing

An amazing building, but difficult to navigate with a suitcase. The room was surprisingly comfortable with an excellent bathroom and a great modern shower. The receptionists were very nice, easy to talk and helpful. We had a nice stay.

Check-in service was good and friendly. left bags for a later check-in and they were accommodating. The trip to the room was difficult with heavy luggage as there are a lot of stairs and narrow corridors to navigate before you finally get to your room. Rooms had a smell, believe our carpets had just been cleaned and maybe weren't quit dry. Our room had a twin bed and the mattress was worn out and squeaked when you sat or laid down. the shower worked for a couple minutes before the battery in control unit went dead and then only had tub. The nightclub washrooms were close to room so got some noise in hallway and from nightclub until midnight or closing. There is certainly some heritage to this hotel but it was not at the level you would expect for the hefty room price in the $180/night Cdn range. We brought some of the concerns to attention of the staff the next morning without much comment or apology from their side.

There were broken curtain tabs , lots of high cobwebs that would need a special long rod/pole to remove . No mattress cover, no pillow protectors .

Fabulous historic hotel; the room was huge for the price with a sitting area and large bathroom with a bath, not just a shower. very quiet room overlooking the alley to the right of the hotel. Short walk to bus station, railway, theatre and in the heart of high street shops. BILL'S can be entered from the hotel for a superb breakfast and also lunch/evening meal. Did not try the cocktail bar (inside the hotel but a separate business) as it was cabaret night.
