“Excellent Hotel”

My Wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel in April ,the staff were all very friendly and could not do enough for you,it was my wifes birthday while we were there and the hotel gave us two glasses of champagne and a birthday card.The room was spacious and well appointed,and both restaurants were first class,if you are going to Guernsey OGH is the place to stay.

If you are intending to stay in St Peter Port, the "capital " of Guernsey I don't think you could do better than stay at this lovely hotel. Beautifully furnished with antiques, and in a wonderful quiet position close to the centre of the charming small town, it is easy to get from it to any part of this unspoilt small island. You can also easily walk to ferries to Sark and Herm and there are lots of good resaurants within 500 metres ( if you do not want to use the hotel's which is fantastic and very reasonable considering the quality: breakfasts (included) are really superb). The hotel has a lovely medium sized heated outdooor pool which we swam in in late May very enjoyably. The most impressive attribute of the Hotel is, hovever, the staff, who are excetionally good. Nothing is too much trouble and they even know your name after 2 days!! Absolutely unique in my experience of many hotels as we are fairly low profile, undemanding customers. We would recommend booking a room with a view of the sea. These are much nicer than those at the back. We would highly recommend this hotel to any discerning traveller and would be very happy to go back any time ourselves. Having read this through, I am concerned that people reading the review may think we have some connection with the hotel as there are no criticisms: this is not the case, we really do think this is a great place to stay.

Everything was perfect, breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner in the brasserie. The staff were excellent- efficient, friendly and welcoming. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay and our room had a magnificant view. Wonderful few days- thanks to all the staff who made our stay so pleasurable.

We mentioned that we were celebrating a special occasion and all of the hotel staff appeared to have been briefed to look after us, as they really pulled out the stops for us. Impressive staff communication.Very good restaurants with helpful staff able to recommend interesting wines to accompany courses. The hotel was undergoing carpet replacement during the day, but this was not intrusive. All in all to be recommended.

“CELEBRATING MY 60TH..............”

Everyone said you have to have a party or hire a club and have a big 60th birthday bash! My wife suggested we go to Guernsey and have a quiet relaxing time just for the two of us. I'm glad she did because the OGH was a superb hotel with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. St Peter Port with its Fort Cornet and Victor Hugo's House offered great historical interest and the coastal walk was spectacular.....highly recommended..thanks OGH...thanks expedia......
