Good quality hotel in the centre of the town

Posted 25-Sep-2014

Cons: quality of coffee at breakfast - overbrewed
Location: Right in the middle of the action.
Very enjoyable few days. Service and personnel most helpful and attentive.

Great location

Posted 21-Sep-2014
Cons: The hotel rooms were dated, needed refreshing.
Location: Close to restaurants and shopping!
The location could not have been better! We were in the heart of the shopping and the wonderful restaurants in St. Peter's Port!

Mini honeymoon to Guernsey

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Pros: The atmosphere in restaurant was relaxed and light And food in the restaurant was excellent, We had a comfortable bed with soft pillows
Cons: Improve wifi strength in rooms (ours was terrible) Update the room decor (the wallpaper was scuffed in our room)
Location: Take the Bumblebee boat tour, loads of fun for a few hours exploring the little islands nearby, with its wildlife and beautiful scenery
Our first time visiting Guernsey, and a friend suggested this hotel. The hotel suited our needs as it was a clean and tidy room at a reasonable price for the 3 nights we stayed. The hotel is right in the middle of town and is walkable to the ferry port (5mins away) The restaurant staff were very friendly and approachable and the food came out quickly and was very tasty, There was a little confussion over our final bill but this was sorted quickly.

Nice hotel but noisy

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Pros: Nice and central and not up a hill (St Peter Port has very steep hills). Very helpful staff
Cons: The water needs to be hot in the evenings. The top rooms definitely need air conditioning.
Location: Very central. If you don't mind hills walk to the Candie Gardens, Guernsey Museum, Castle Cornet, Victorian Parlour and Victor Hugo's house
I was staying on my own so wanted somewhere central. After a false start I enjoyed my stay and the hotel staff could not have been nicer. However, I was put in room 301 which is right up under the eaves and very hot. The front window opened onto the road which (although pedestrianized) was extremely noisy with people shouting until the early hours and the back window opened onto the roof where there was a huge extractor fan which was also terribly noisy. After a sleepless night I was moved to another room which was much quieter and from then on I had a lovely time (although there do seem to be hot water issues as the water was tepid in the evenings). Breakfasts were plentiful and very nice with the full range of continental or cooked. I would go there again - but ask for a quiet room!

Excellent location and extremely good staff

Posted 22-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, quality of food, level of service
Cons: There was no air con in the room, so as it was warm weather we had to have the room windows open, which made it a bit noisy. But it is a fine building
Location: We were surprised by how much there is to do, the island is beautiful and the bus network takes you everywhere, for £1 a trip. The harbour is close by
We chose this hotel for our first stay on Guernsey because of its location and brand, and only Expedia showed a vacancy for the days we wanted. We were not disappointed, but in particular the staff were extremely attentive and courteous, and the food excellent, both breakfast and in the 'pub' restaurant (we did not use the main restaurant for dinner but the roof garden is an excellent facility.)

Some problems.

Posted 04-Aug-2013
Pros: Friendliness and helpfulness of staff
Cons: Lack of air conditioning
Location: Excellent
During a heatwave was not a good time to be staying in a hotel without air-conditioning - something I took for granted at this price. A problem with the plumbing and the wiring meant that the power went out in the rooms along my corridor before I went to bed one night and wasn't restored until late the next morning. No apology or explanation was offered by the staff although they were all friendly and helpful when approached. Excellent location in the centre of town somewhat marred by the noisy bar across the road unless you want to go drinking until 1 am.

Handy for the centre of town.

Posted 14-Nov-2012
I've stayed often before, usually booking direct. This time my room rate via Expedia was 60% of the rate I was quoted over the phone, though without breakfast. For the future I shall check the online rate with the quoted one before booking. What's more, this time I got a double room rather than a single!
