Dominating this superbly preserved medieval town on the wooded slopes of Monte Ingino is the castellated Palazzo dei Consoli, containing seven bronze slabs carved with Etruscan script. Many other grey-stone, terracotta-tiled buildings line the twisting streets, some with sinister blocked entrances known as Doors of Death.
