“Dong Fang Hotel - Excellent Hotel with a good location”

Excellent hotel - accomodation and service from staff. Restaurants are very good especially the buffet at night with the BBQ. My only suggestion is book the suites if you want a soft bed as the normal rooms have harder beds. My only real criticism is the hotel is the smart keys which let you asess the lifts and your room - very unreliable and frustrating, if you have a room a long way from the main lobby. We had to constantly have them changed or updated. Checkin and check out were very smooth. The coaches provided by the hotel to take us to the Pazhou Fairs were numerous and comfortable.

Area recommendations

The area around Dong Fang Hotel is excellent with a precinct that offers many food experiences both local and international. It also has the Liu Hua Lake and surrounds for quiet times and entertaining as well as the restaurants around the lake. The main shopping area of Beijing Lu is a must for bargain shoppers. Go there before it changes and losses its charm and becomes like every other shopping area.

“Mary”

This is a huge hotel with a very nice garden, but it seems too big so many rooms look like empty. Hotel seems pay more attention to big tour groups, so individual customers do not have enough good care of. The hotel seems a training class, check in was very slow, management was not good, they forgot to tell shuttle driver to take us to train station. But we got very good price in that time (the price jumps now), so it is still worth to stay this hotel.

“No complain if they had....”

I stayed at Deluxe Business Room between Dec. 17 and Dec.21. And this is the 2nd time that I stayed this hotel. Last time, there was a problem with bathroom water (smells so bad) but it seemed they already fixed it. Hotel room was very clean and it was very comfortable. Only one problem was A/C. when I was in Guangzhou, it was so cold but heater(a/c) dosen't work at all. Only cold air was coming even I set up temp. 30℃. I'm planning to stay here next week again.... I hope their A/C will work by that time.

Almost impossible to highlight a weakness in this hotel. Possibly the best value for money hotel I have stayed in China.
