Buyers beware !

Posted 17-Nov-2014
Pros: View
Cons: Everything....... Clean, replace sheet, remove cockroaches or charge them high rate to move someplace else, better, raze and build new..
Arriving at 5:30 a.m., there were indeed no water, no coffee, nothing but staff suggested that all was around the corner 10-30 minutes walking distance, at 5 a.m. in a place I had never been before, in the pouring rain, right !! I could not check in early, which is somewhat understandable but I was leaving the next day at 3:00 anyway, so literarily less than 24 hours there. But then, I asked to sit in the lobby for couple of hours until my meeting and then checkin after lunch.... but NOOOOOO, I could not even sit in the lobby and had to stand outside at 5 a.m. for 2 hours.... what nonsense!! So, I had to pay half the day's charge to check in early..... now the total price was nearly the same as the Hilton around the corner ! I go the room, past all the junk and cleaning supplies in the hallway to find that the bed sheet has hair left over on it. It looked like they did not bother to change the sheet from last guests stay. Well, sit and enjoy the view I say.. Going to town, there are of course no options except their shuttle which was pricy. At this hotel, the driver, hotel maid, guest services, desk staff and all was just ONE person who was not that friendly either. They did not even have my Expedia reservation, which luckily I had a print out for. Things did not improve at night either with cockroaches parading in the room. I had to sleep on 2 chairs pushed next to each other. What nightmare...

it is what it is

hotel was fine close to airport near the outlet malls, but it is at then end of the trolley's so logistically not great if you don't have a car and rely on the shopping trolleys it is on the agana beach which seemed quite quite off in the distance was more water sports and at the neighbouring hotel there seemed to be lot's of action and a water sports center. Breakfast was fine one day buffet other day too few guests so went a la carte, nothing spectacular but you won't go hungry and appropriate for room price. I was irked that when I asked about shopping malls getting into town they offered the hotel drop/off pick and failed to mention the trolley stop a 3 min walk away Guahan and the Sirena was literally up the hill from the front door. My bad for not doing more research and not asking further, but I do find that deceptive.

Pros: - location location location! Right on the beach of a beautiful little bay with an island in it. You can walk out to the island at low tide, and easily swim/walk out during high tide too. Lots of little tropical fish swimming around the coral. This hotel is probably the best as far as getting to the island goes. From the Sheraton to the north it's rocky, from Onboard nextdoor it's pretty good, from south of Santa Fe, it's a longer trek. This bay is not part of the main bay, which doesn't look any better than here. - nice view from my room. I was on the top floor on the north side. (I envied the people facing the sea straight on though). - I never went, but there's a restaurant/bar right at the beach. I kind of wish I got around to going there. - the staff were pretty friendly. I wasn't used to that. I'd just be walking around and people would say "hi". - a computer with internet available near the lobby. - decent grocery store about a 10 minute walk away. - good mix of customers from different countries, not catering to one particular crowd. Family-friendly, but not over-run with kids. - nice little pool (It would be nicer if it was bigger). - a little fridge and microwave were convenient to have. I ate a meal or two per day in my room. There was also a safe for valuables. Cons: - housekeeping was quite random. I was there for a week. Most days it wasn't done until the evening, maybe 5 or 6, so I was often surprised after heading out early in the morning, spending hours

Close to the beach, but you get what you pay for.

Pros: Location is good, for the lower-mid price it's a serviceable place to stay. Hotel staff were very willing to arrange event reservations and the like.
Cons: Openable windows, keep laundry machines repaired, better doors. Oh, and be very clear on the phone about charging for airport pickup.
Location: Restaurant next door called Shirley's, small but nice enough beach and pool, and the "main" shopping areas are only ~5 minutes drive away.
The hotel is close to the airport, and while it's not nestled in the center of the main shopping hub on the north side of the island, it's just a few minutes drive away and much, much less expensive. Pool was small and simple, as was the beach in front of the hotel, but decent. Hotel staff was generally friendly. The room was very basic but serviceable, about what you would expect for the price. The facilities left a lot to be desired--our room's window was screwed shut, there are only two laundry machines of which one was out of service, and the bathroom doors are wooden slats (so you can hear absolutely everything that happens in there, make sure you stay with someone you're comfortable enough with). Also all the doors don't quite fit into their frames, both our room door and bathroom door needed a massive pull or push to get open. Finally, the hotel had promised us free transportation from the airport on the phone before our departure. They did send someone to pick us up which was nice, but upon checkout we were forced to pay $20 for it, despite being told otherwise on the phone.

Beachfront property

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Beachfront /pool and able to run/walk on beach, restaurant/bar
Cons: Complete housekeeping services ensuring towels and other amenities/toiletries are stocked after cleaning room
Location: Lots of water activities, restaurant onsite, restaurant right outside hotel
Overall stay was ok and will return for the beachfront/pool and view. However, had to beg for towels every single day of stay which included day of check in. Very disappointed in staff and how the problem was never corrected.

I think they are trying, but could do better...

Posted 24-Jun-2014
Pros: The location was great in relation to the airport and Tumon the main shopping district. The beach was very nice and again very well located.
Cons: I think overall performance/presentation. If the management had a clear vision of presentation, it didn't show.
Location: Phenomenal in relation to island facilities, airport, shopping, beach...
Very good location and very nice beach, but a bit lacking on performance. The staff was nice and attentive, but I feel they lacked resources to really follow through. Waited two hours for a promised pool towel, which never arrived. Shower head was pitiful/clogged and asked for replacement during my 4 day stay, which never arrived. Spa didn't work properly and several of the pool chaises were broken and unusable. While above sounds negative, it really wasn't. Location again was excellent and the beach and view phenomenal. For an average/fair price, I think the overall experience was adequate, but could have been so much better with a little extra effort/management.

This is a good budget hotel

First of all...NO HOT WATER IN MY ROOM!!! After that, the location is nice by the bay. The grill had a nice ambiance by being right up against the beach and open air. I wish the beer was colder and the bar staff have a little more personality. I think that is what you get when you hire really young unexperienced people to run a bar. Cute smile No personality. But if you are with a group, then this place would be great. A big bucket of beer with your mates would be fun. I was there solo for work so it was boring watching poor quality TV and eating mediocre food. Otherwise, walk next door to the waterpark and the Japanese restaurant was good at the Onward Resort.

Shabby hotel but excellant service

Posted 25-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Shabby hotel. Room 209. There may be better values out there. If you can find same priced hotel I would go with the other. The hotel is un-kept. The sheets are old, I had 2 single beds put together, the bathroom towels were old, furniture was old, rug was filthy. However, the hotel staff were excellent. Try the pancakes in the restaurant. They are the size the vinyl LPs.

Nice, comfy quiet and right on the water

I enjoyed my stay at hotel Santa Fe overall but there were a few things that could improve. The king size bed I selected for my room turned out to be two twin beds pushed together. The housekeeping staff did not leave clean towels one day and the next only left one with no hand towels. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful through my stay. The wifi was not reliable or consistent. All this to say, no place is perfect and I would most likely stay at hotel Santa Fe on my return to guam.
