Where's the service?

Posted 08-Jul-2014
Guam is really expensive in regards to transportation. The Hilton is not close to anything, but they don't run a free shuttle to Tumon or the airport ($15 per person). With all of the extra money I spent on taxis and buses, I should have stayed at the Hyatt.

no planning

Posted 11-Apr-2014
Pros: The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The knowledge of your customers. Put chairs on the Balcony.
Location: The food and the beaches around the hotel were great. Don't eat in the hotel or go to the spa they are overpriced.
The hotel was being refurbished at the sometime there was a huge rush of people from Japan! There was nobody in management who understood that the rush was coming, They need to redo the pool area. Their beach side help was undermanned. I love Hilton but I have always known that Hilton thinks of Guam as a backwater kind of location. The room service staff were nice and friendly.

Hotel had a gas explosion recently, so they are rebuilding the pool area, which makes it rather noisy and hard to access the pools. The resort is usually terrific and will be again, after the renovations.

Perfect staff, tired interior.

Posted 02-Dec-2013
Pros: Quality of service.
Cons: Hotel needs renovation.
Location: Hotel is far from shopping area. You would need a car or the bus (which stops in front of the hotel).
My work involves A LOT ot travelling and this hotel`s staff is amongst the best I have come in contact with !!! Always with a smile, always ready to assist, very polite. Housekeeping is doing a great job cleaning the rooms etc. but the hotel itself is EXTREMELY tired... This is the worst looking 5 star hotel (even 4 star) I have seen. It should have been renovated at least 10 years ago. Having said that housekeeping is doing a perfect job under those conditions! Value for money is very poor, following the conditions of the furnishings. You cannot pay 220$+ per night for such a room.

Just Amazing and Not in a Good Way!

Posted 30-Nov-2013 on Hotels.com
This trip was just amazing and not in a good way! First off I had requested early check in which I was told would not be a problem only to arrive at the hotel and be helped by an in experience front desk boy that did not know how to do early check in, and the only thing he new was check in was 3:00pm and that is when you can check in. That was just the start, after I got checked in at 1:30pm the refrigerator in my room was warm, like it was not even on. I called maintenance which they sent someone to check it and I could not believe what this guy was about to say. He feels one can of soda and tells me that is how it is, it does not get really cold. I told him I cold leave the can of soda on the counter and it would get more cold. Then he tells me maybe the maid just refilled it, so I asked him you think the maid refilled every soda in the refrigerator including the metal rack, because everything in the refrigerator is completely warm. Then get this he actually told me it is not really a refrigerator which I took a step back and told him are you trying to tell me that this refrigerator is not REALLY a refrigerator and he said yes. At that point I told him to just bring me another one. When he brought the other refrigerator I opened it and it was so cold it had ice building up on the back of it. I showed the ice to him and told him look how cold it is there is ice in there and he actually said I brought you a good one?

Friendly staff, rooms are satisfactory

Posted 27-Nov-2013
I'm not sure if it's the humidity or what, but the condition of the rooms seems to be not quite perfect. The beds are new, clean and very comfortable, but the carpet could use a deep cleaning and I think the humidity has affected the wallpaper. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful with things like making restaurant reservations for us. We were traveling with a small boy and hotel staff were very friendly towards him. The breakfast buffet, Sunday brunch, and steak & lobster dinner in the hotel restaurant were really tasty. Our boy loved the pools and the water slide.

Followed advice to stay here and was pleased

Posted 19-Nov-2013
Pros: Awesome access to snorkeling... just out the door and really great diversity of sea-life and shallow, safe waters.
Cons: Receptionist was honest: saying they are looking for a better solution for room wifi; recommended the lobby, business center connection which was good
Location: I connected with a dive shop and had diving excursions arranged. Taxis are super expensive, so better to rent a car or have someone pick you up.
I was here for a week, and stayed in one of the deluxe "partial ocean view" rooms. View/balcony was great (see image attached). I was comfortable in the room. It's not Hilton luxury as in other places but the price was reasonable for the comfort. Staff is very friendly; and takes care of you. Excellent: outdoor pools, waterslide, jacuzzi and ocean views for lounging access for snorkeling; it's fun for the whole family. They were doing construction to upgrade these outdoor facilities, a good sign. Hilton also needs to work out a viable in-room internet wifi; but apparently this is under negotiation with the service provider. Each night is a different style of dinner buffet. Frankly with the exception for the friday night seafood buffet, I was not impressed and usually chose to eat à la carte from the treehouse bar outside. Good meals, great waiting staff. To be fair, I didn't try the more posh restaurant/lounge.

Rooms dirty and old, pool and bar closed

Posted 23-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
This is a tired old hotel where the rooms need updating. The BAR and Pool were closed well before I arrived however the hotel did not provide any discount given that this was the main reason for staying at this hotel. Their only solution was to give me voucher to use another hotel's pool. If I wanted to do that I would have just stayed somewhere else. Last time I stay at this Hilton.
