“Very pleasant hotel”
we enjoyed your stay but it would be nice if there was a sign with the name of the hotel on both sides of the buildingl along the road. The swimming pool was smaller and much colder than we expected but there was plenty of seating around the pool which could benefit from a partition from the car park.
“Do not go to this hotel!”
We would not recommend this hotel. The beds were really old and so was the bedding. Who has blankets these days!? The beds did not feel clean and I couldnt wait to get home! The shower was really slow and overall the rooms were dilapidated. The hotel is in a nice area and the breakfast was OK. We had to pay extra for evening meal which we thought was overpriced for the small portions.
“On H&S grounds how is this Hotel be trading”
We can only reiterate the review left by the traveller from West Yorkshire, the Beachcombers Hotel is a complete sham. When checking in you're lulled into a false sense of "this could be quite nice", the entrance, reception area wasn't too bad having had new doors fitted whilst we were there. It was a different matter once you collected your key and directed to your room. We had a hole in the wall in our bedroom, the shower/toilet stunk but thankfully the bed was clean. The firedoor on the landing was never closed nor was the side door to the road, even at night time - these were left open to allow people to go out to smoke. We didn't feel safe in our room as the door constantly rattled with the draft from the doors being left open to any passerby. The dining room was a complete disgrace, dirty seat covers which also marked your clothing, especially white trousers!!! At breakfast we had to wait for food and then we wondered why did we bother, the fruit salad was tinned peaches or prunes!!! Cereals but no bowls or milk!!! The whole experience was appaling and a very expensive TWO day trip. Come on Jersey Hotel Inspectors DO YOUR JOB
“Never again”
The Hotel Beachcomber despite it's name was nowhere near the beach. How this hotel got a three star rating is beyond us. It was dirty, in disrepair, there was some confusion about the key for our room. We particularly like the green stained grout in the shower. Our room was not serviced on the second day and, despite our requests, was still not serviced and we were informed that they would do it on the next day. The breakfast could only be described as Fawlty Towers on a bad day. On the day of our arrival there was a near riot from the rest of the hotel guests regarding their evening meal - the majority having to dine elswhere at their own expense. However back to breakfast - it was either cold or nonexistant. Constantly having to go to the staff to ask for plates, bowls, cereal, eggs, bacon etc. etc. The queue for toast ( which we had to make ourselves) resembled sale time at Harrods. The covers on the dining room chairs were an absolute disgrace (covered in stains of all descriptions on both sides) We complained to the assistant manager who was very sympathetic and directed us to the manager adding that he might listen to us. We were told by the manager that they were very busy but that is no excuse. He informed us that the hotel had gone bankrupt and that he had just taken over. Our view at that time was that the hotel was heading in the same direction. This is a very brief outline of what took place - I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Best 3 star I've ever stayed in!!”
A wonderful little hotel. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room I stayed in was spacious with a new bathroom and quite luxurious considering this hotel is 3 star. Breakfast was buffet style with hot orders being taken, both of which I sampled and both were enjoyable. The hotel itself is very comfortable with an ecclectic chic type style. All appeared to be kept very clean even the gardens which are nicely tended. Overall a very comfortable, friendly little hotel offering such good value for money.
“A real disappointment”
Most reviews of this hotel are positive, which is why we stayed at the Beachcombers for our week's holiday in Jersey. The location is decent, the breakfasts are ok but I am afraid that on the whole we could not recommend the hotel to anyone. We found the condition of the communal areas to be presentable but the condition of our first room was poor, the second room (after complaining) better but still nothing more than mediocre. Both rooms were very noisy, noise insulation was very poor. We found the beds uncomfortable, lighting in the rooms harsh and everywhere we looked could see something that needed repair or attention. To be fair to the hotel, it was a busy week, which no doubt contributed to the noise levels, but we think some money needs to be spent on the general fixtures and fittings. We would not stay in this hotel again.
“Would love to do it all again next year!”
From the car park at southampton airport to the car hire in Jersey, everything went like clockwork, we even got an upgrade on the car, Flybe were professional and well organised both ends, the Beachcombers Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful, the breakfast gave a good selection, our room was huge and very clean. Our 4 day trip was excellent value for money in every respect...shame we couldnt plan the weather!!!
“Good Holiday Base”
Hotel was excellent value for money. The hotel was very clean and the facilities provided hours of entertainment for the kids. Only very slight problem with traffic noise at night but this wasn't too excessive. Staff were very helpful and keen to make our stay a pleasant one. Quality of food was excellent, although the portion sizes could have been slightly bigger. Overall we would recommend this hotel as a good base for a family holiday in Jersey.
“Great hotel”
Lovely hotel. On several bus routes. Rooms large and clean though could do with updating. Breakfast great lots of choice hot, cold, cereals, fruit etc. Helpful friendly staff will definately return!!
“Very helpful at our hour of need”
We where stuck at this hotel while all flights were canceled because of the volcanic ash. I cannot praise the staff enough during this time, they were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. They printed my e mails at no charge and keep us updated on flights and the ferries. All staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel was lovely and clean, kids loved the games room. Would definitely stay here again - Well done
