Beautiful location. Restaurant is WICKEDLY expensive (and not worth it). Not only does the restaurant close on Monday nights but the hotel staff also leave. We were given a code to enter. Felt a bit uncomfortable knowing no one was there (I believe the owners are on site). Rooms were old but clean. Hallway carpets were very dirty.

La Terrasse is a castle dating from the 11th century that sits dramatically
in a small village on a hill overlooking the river. If you are looking for a
romantic setting in the country that is only a short drive from the major
sights in the area, La Terrasse is the perfect place.
We stayed in 3 hotels in the Dordogne area and this one was by far the
best. The gourmet evening meals on the terrace are worth a trip to the
castle even if you are not staying there.
The experience in this idyllic setting is enhanced by the charm and
warmth of the lady who owns and manages the hotel. I will strongly
recommend La Terrasse to my friends.

This hotel is a quiet tranquil oasis in the midst of the tourist hustle of Rocamadour. Surrounded by shady trees, it is only minutes to walk to the village, to the vista points, or to the access paths down the rock face. The hotel decor is stylish and relaxing, the rooms comfortable and spotless, the breakfast has a wide choice of food. This is an ideal spot for sightseeing, or for just sitting and relaxing.

We were extremely disappointed with this hotel--it was the poorest hotel we stayed at in our three week trip through France--and we found incomprehensible its three star rating. The room was tiny--it felt claustrophobic. The manager/owner was unfriendly and not helpful. He was clearly displeased when we told him we did not want to take demi-pension (we made this decision after surveying the dinner menu, which was expensive and offered fewer courses in the Tourist Menu than are generally offered in French prix fixe menus). The reception desk featured brochures on the area that were free at the Tourist Information office, but which the hotel charged 1 Euro 30 for. In general we had the sense of miserliness and unfriendliness.

We had a lovely room with a view of the old city, which was well worth paying for. Hotel is in a prime position for visiting Rocamadour. Bathroom was a bit dated and had no shower head holder, but the bedroom was light and airy, no air con.

We were very pleased with the hotel and this was our third stay there. The worst thing we can say is that our room was very hot, as we stayed during a heatwave, and we found it difficult to sleep. However after a few days, upon asking, we were given an electric fan to place in our room, which helped. We would recommend that air conditioning be installed or fans issued as norm to rectify this. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff very pleasant and it was good that some of the staff were multi-lingual. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
