(Oct-2014) Immediately we discovered that it had a poor level of staff service and attentiveness. The staff were simply unsatisfactory at all levels from management to the waiters and showed little courtesy or proactivity to make the guests feel comfortable or confident that they are being well served.
1) The general staff hardly had any customer skills and often unable to answer even the most basic of questions.
2) The management appeared to apply little to no effort or urgency to resolve any customer complaints. They were even hardly available onsite to reach them.
3) We had a list of complaints which included:
- rooms not being cleaned.
- Poor planning of beach services. There were no staff working along the beach to help customers if they needed anything, e.g. with towel distribution, drinks, etc.
- The daily activity schedule for sports was not followed which misguided the guests and wasted their precious time. Some events simply kept being cancelled without notice or explanation. Often leading to frustration for the wasted time if you planned your day around the activity.
- Unknowledgeable, unskilled and unhelpful Reception and concierge staff.
- Poor safety on some sporting equipment, like the hotel bicycles, which almost resulted in a nasty accident for us on the road.
- Even some of the SPA staff did not know their skill and had to read an instruction manual during the massage to know the routine. She did it with the instruction manual on my back!

Wonderful resort situated in the south of the island. Weather can be unpredictable but the pools and other amenities make up for it. The staff was responsive without being intrusive. Dining was also excellent - we tried two of the restaurants; one offered an excellent menu while the other had buffet. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try the fine dining restaurant. The kids club was handy for younger families.

Everything about our stay was perfect! I spent a long time before we booked looking at all the different areas/hotels/reviews and everything and even made a spreadsheet to compare the best prices for our favourites- I have to say we couldn't have gone for anything better! We did see a few of the other hotels and nothing compared. Tamassa is just stunning and had a really nice relaxed feel. The staff were so lovely and helpful and made us feel very at home- even remembering our drinks orders! The food was delicious with a huge range every single night- honestly no one would be dissatisfied! The burger van at lunchtime did some of the best burgers I've ever had-especially the fish and the chicken burgers. Drinks were amazing too and very varied: we were all inclusive (highly recommended!) and honestly everything was included- a huge drinks and cocktails menu, ALL the food, we were so impressed. The only thing we paid for in our 13day stay was a very small charge for room service once. I was surprised that the water skiing was included too and we took full advantage of that along with other water sports. The room was beautiful and had a huge bathroom with separate bath and large shower and his and hers sinks. We ended up hiring a car at the airport which worked out cheap and well worth it if you do a few trips. We did a day at the racing in Port Louis, some shopping, a quad bike safari (best experience ever- we stroked Zebras!).
Just couldn't fault a thing!
As this was my first trip to the Indian Ocean location I found the Heritage Awali resort a pleasing and wonderful experience. the staff were most helpful and was made most welcome by all. Of course I should mention the Golf Club which has a magnificent Course attached and I did happen to have the chance to play this but was unfortunate to happen to pick the most busy day to play but then it did not dampen the day. Evening entertainment was good and could not fault it. rooms were excellent although I cannot complain as I was upgraded to a superior room without extra cost. All in all a great holiday and I would suggest this resort for not only Golfers but for ALL holiday makers.

Excellent service. They all really care. Could not be faulted at all. Only downside is that food in main restaurant is very bland - looks fine but is under seasoned and unexciting. The food at its sister hotel is better.

Check-in was quick and easy. Staff very friendly all round. Room was very clean and beautiful. Very well decorated. Close to the airport but no noise what so ever. Inside and outside well taken care off. Like new. The free shuttle service to and from the airport very efficient. Free wifi.Overall my stay was pleasant. Will recommend this hotel and will be back.
