Thistle Hotel Glasgow

Was very impressed with the hotel, did not expect it to be so nice! Leisure facilities excellent, room was really big and comfortable. All staff we spoke to were very pleasent and helpful. Only slight complaint is you can hear doors of other rooms slamming, but that really was not a problem. Particularly liked the fact that you have to swipe your key to get onto the floor your room is on. Really impressed, we will be back!

Great car parking facilities. Great staff and stunning accomodation... Booked the executive site for one night to celebrate an early valentines with my boyfriend! Rooms were definitely picture perfect and worth every penny!!

Thistle Glasgow

Posted 31-Jan-2011 on Hotels.com
Location: Merchant City
very satisfied with accommodation provided at the very reasonable rate I obtained although its 80's decor could do with an overhaul. Good breakfast, friendly service. Hotel location OK but - in a city of some fine architecture - rather grim buildings opposite.

Thistle Hotel in Glasgow

Posted 31-Jan-2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel was quite comfortable and the staff friendly, but I found the fixtures and fittings (apart from Reception which was fine) to be faded and a bit in need of a good clean or reupholstering. The seat in my room was quite grubby round the edges as were other seating I noticed in the hotel. The grouting in the bathroom looked quite old and brownish. The bar had a limited menu, but it was adequate.

The room we occupied was good, however the bathroom required re-decorating and was not clean. A door stop was missing in the bathroom, also the razor electric socket was dirty.

Not a great hotel

Posted 08-Jan-2011 on Hotels.com
Stayed at the Thistle new years eve for 4 nights. first room i got was room 308. not in great condition. Sink in bathroom was cracked, bed very uncomfortable,(mattress should be replaced) furniture carpets and wallpaper old and shabby. 2 chairs badly stained and grubby, room noisy, 2nd room 337 a little bit better furniture carpets and wallpaper need upgrade (shabby but not as bad as the first room). room at back of hotel so no traffic noise, a/c very noisy no thermostat in room could not switch it off, woke us up a few times the first night has to get maintenance to switch off a/c and leave a heater in room . hotel in great location, near every thing and close to train and bus station. had a few drinks in the bar , was good value, nice atmosphere. All staff were very friendly helpful, and a credit to the hotel. Thanks for printing my airline ticket. rooms cleaned and checked everyday but not to a great standard. bathroom in good condition bath/shower combo, great water pressure, towels old and frayed. Glasgow is a great place to visit, people very nice friendly, and helpful.

right in the heart of things

I actually booked this hotel for my daughter as she was having a night out in Glasgow and wanted to stay overnight. The Thistle Hotel is in an excellent location right in the City Centre and just off Sauchiehall Street with all the shops, restuarants and bars. The hotel is clean, modern and has a lovely leisure centre with a good swimming pool, so remember and take your swimming gear. My daughter was more than happy with the comfort of the hotel.
