Central and convenient for commonwealth games

Posted 07-Aug-2014
Pros: See above
Cons: See above. Tired - and website should give a more realistic set of photos
Felt that room did not match at all what we had seen in online photos. Staff v friendly but hotel a little tired and room disappointing. Mis matched furniture - wardrobe and cupboard looked like they were from 2nd hand shop, just 2 tumblers - no glasses in bathroom, one window without any curtain - early wake up. Noisy from traffic. Central core had character but tired. V expensive for what we got - which website photos suggested we would have. Recommended to a friend who was also travelling to the commonwealth Games and who was equally disappointed. Location good, and a building with character, but overall over-priced and not what we'd expected from the site.

Nice hotel with really lovely staff.

Posted 26-Jun-2014
Pros: The decor is great.
Cons: I suspect a few facilities will need to be updated soon as some of it is looking tired.
Location: Superb location, I was working at the Concert Hall and loved that it was just a short walk away with plenty of bars restaurants and shops right there.
I was there for 5 days on a business trip in one of the "comfortable" rooms. I love the hotel's decor and general atmosphere. Everything was clean and quite well maintained. My room would have been perfect if it had had a small fridge in it. I was particularly please with all the staff as they were friendly and professional at all times.

One night stay

Posted 24-Jun-2014
Pros: The hotel is well placed near the city centre but the street is reasonably quiet considering the location.
Cons: Rooms could be cleaned to a higher standard and the furniture could be renewed.
Location: The city centre location means you have easy access to the citys sights, shops, restaurants and transport links.
My wife and I stayed at the Arthouse while in Glasgow to attend the Eric Clapton concert at the SSE Hydro. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room cleaning left a little to be desired but the bedding and towels were spotlessly clean. The room carpet was poorly fitted and the curtain linings were frayed not what you would expect in a four star hotel. On the plus side the rooms have excellent tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries are supplied also there was an iron and board in the room.

Not a 4 * hotel as described.

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: The situation
Cons: The heating, decor and the room size.
Location: Easy walking distance into the city.
The room was small with only one tiny window that opened. The outlook from the window was the wall of the next building which had a noisy generator. The air conditioning could only be reduced to 19degrees and consequently was far too warm at night. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Perfect for business

Posted 12-Jun-2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Breakfast - additional £10 cost Greek yogurt and fresh compote substituted by cheap yogurt and dried fruit. Cooked part ok but overpriced.
Quiet spectacular room, robe, fab toiletries and professional friendly staff. More like a spa than a work visit. Cool original gate style lift. Breakfast was ok but better to go to one of many coffee bars instead. Ate in Butterfly and Pig minutes away recommended by reception and superb. I felt looked after in the Arthouse which is rare for one night visits in big cities.

Beautiful and Quirky

Posted 09-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Overall very pleased - Parts of the room could've been to the same standard as rest of the hotel. Bathroom lovely and one of the most comfiest beds I've slept in away from home. Perfect location with gym - Parking - great bars close at hand. Will defo be re booking on next visit

Central hotel in Glasgow

Posted 28-Apr-2014
Pros: It is, as the name suggests, arty and a bit quirky.
Cons: the top floor hallway carpet could do with a clean or refresh
Last minute booking when our travel plans changed. The Hotel Staff were friendly and informative (giving us two excellent recommendations for an evening out in Glasgow). The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom very decent.

Poor standard !

Posted 14-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
Rooms in need of a major refurbishment, the first room we were given, which we were told was an upgraded room, was awful, the room had a horrible smell ! the second room we were given although better than the first, still was to very low standard. The rooms are of good size, but just got a small double bed stuck in them which looks awful, and the other furniture had door handles hanging off.Not what I expected from a 4 star boutique hotel - was no better than a travel lodge !!
