Square Sausages

Posted 27-Oct-2014
Pros: The wonderful lift and the great location
Breakfast is to be recommended, and for us Sooth Moothers square sausage is quite a novelty.

Bad room on first night

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Pros: The lift
Cons: Demolish the room we had for the first night
Location: Very convenient location for city sights
Terrible room (at huge expense) on our first night. Had to ask for a new room as our room smelt of drains, the phone did not work properly, the bedside light did not work, the toothbrush charger was broken, the pillows smelt. However the replacement room was fine.

Competitive Price

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Pros: Without a doubt the central stair well and the ornate Victorian features and the paintings on display.
Cons: As above.
Location: Lots.
We last stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel some 10 years ago and the room was very noisy with external air conditioning units banging away all night long and bins etc. Ten years later we had exactly the same experience. Glasgow was very warm for September and we turned off the air-conditioning and opened the windows to a beautiful evening. All the more galling then that we were subject to the external noise. The room was fine and we booked it at a competitive price through Expedia at £70 a night but upgraded to a £100 a night which was bigger in size but still the same double bed and an okay bathroom. The old basement restaurant and bar were gone to be replaced by a dull off reception, bar and restaurant. We had one drink and ate neither dinner nor breakfast there. I would recommend it to a friend but only at the price we paid and would recommend many alternatives. I hope that these comments are viewed by the management as constructive, as we were told that a major refurbishment is due soon.

Arthouse in August

Posted 26-Aug-2014
Pros: Room and staff
Cons: The bathroom and the bar
Location: We ate at Brian Maule's restaurant just 2 minutes away
Efficient check-in, big room with very high ceiling. Bathroom a bit small. The bar was rather souless but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience.

Nice Hotel in the City Centre.

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff were very helpful and the building has a nice interior with plenty of character.
Cons: The cleaner could've dusted my room a bit better and there was a lot of noise outside up to 3 am once the nightclubs closed.
Location: You're 5-10mins away from Glasgow's nightlife, main shopping areas and Central/Queen St stations and underground stations.
Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and staff very helpful. Hotel is 10 mins from Buchanan St and very centre of Glasgow so don't have to walk very far.

Central and convenient for commonwealth games

Posted 07-Aug-2014
Pros: See above
Cons: See above. Tired - and website should give a more realistic set of photos
Felt that room did not match at all what we had seen in online photos. Staff v friendly but hotel a little tired and room disappointing. Mis matched furniture - wardrobe and cupboard looked like they were from 2nd hand shop, just 2 tumblers - no glasses in bathroom, one window without any curtain - early wake up. Noisy from traffic. Central core had character but tired. V expensive for what we got - which website photos suggested we would have. Recommended to a friend who was also travelling to the commonwealth Games and who was equally disappointed. Location good, and a building with character, but overall over-priced and not what we'd expected from the site.

Nice hotel with really lovely staff.

Posted 26-Jun-2014
Pros: The decor is great.
Cons: I suspect a few facilities will need to be updated soon as some of it is looking tired.
Location: Superb location, I was working at the Concert Hall and loved that it was just a short walk away with plenty of bars restaurants and shops right there.
I was there for 5 days on a business trip in one of the "comfortable" rooms. I love the hotel's decor and general atmosphere. Everything was clean and quite well maintained. My room would have been perfect if it had had a small fridge in it. I was particularly please with all the staff as they were friendly and professional at all times.

One night stay

Posted 24-Jun-2014
Pros: The hotel is well placed near the city centre but the street is reasonably quiet considering the location.
Cons: Rooms could be cleaned to a higher standard and the furniture could be renewed.
Location: The city centre location means you have easy access to the citys sights, shops, restaurants and transport links.
My wife and I stayed at the Arthouse while in Glasgow to attend the Eric Clapton concert at the SSE Hydro. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room cleaning left a little to be desired but the bedding and towels were spotlessly clean. The room carpet was poorly fitted and the curtain linings were frayed not what you would expect in a four star hotel. On the plus side the rooms have excellent tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries are supplied also there was an iron and board in the room.
