Nice central hotel. Stayed here several times.

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Towels need renewed.
Great hotel. Swimming pool a good size compared to other hotel pools. Lovely steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Large gym. Beds very comfortable. Rooms sound proof. Breakfast fantastic. Hotel close to shops, river, cinema, SECC, restaurants, clubs and bars.

Overpriced and overdue a makeover

Posted 25-Jun-2015
Pros: Food, drink, location
Cons: Update rooms and everything looked tired and outdated
Location: Easy walk to SECC
Good location, good food and drink. Lobby and bar are very presentable but rooms are tired, battered and a bit bashed about. Very noisy bathroom extractor fan which has a mind of it's own!

Close to central Glasgow

Hotel was clean and in a good location. Staff were, in the main, fine. Parking was across the street and charged at £5 a day.

Good Location

Posted 26-May-2015
Pros: Spa facilities were good and location excellent
Location: The hotel is in the heart of Glasgow. The city centre, Buchanan St, Princes Square and Merchant City etc. are a 10 minute stroll from the hotel
Very pleasant stay and only a short walk to the City Centre to the East and the SECC to the West

Overnight stay

Posted 29-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff were very welcoming and the bar food was of very high standard.
Cons: The choice of room service food was lacking. There should be more choice avaliable.
Location: Approximately half a mile away from the Glasgow Central train station, only taking 10 minutes to walk. The SSE hydro is only a 20 walk away.
Overnight stay at the hotel for a concert at the Hydro which is very conveniently located to the hotel. The room was very large, comfortable and clean.

Central for everything

Posted 28-Apr-2015
Pros: Location, friendly staff and good facilities.
Cons: Rooms need decorating
Location: Hopper bus stop outside hotel perfect ! 10 minute walk to station and shopping centre, local for bars and restaurants too.
We came for my wife's birthday and her best friend's too . My wife booked the hotel and we were not disappointed . Staff were very friendly polite and helpful. Rooms were lovely although a bit tired ! but very comfortable , well equipped too. Spa and pool facilities good along with bar and restaurant. Breakfasts were very good plenty of choice. Overall a really good hotel would definitely recommend it, location was perfect.

Concert

Posted 18-Apr-2015
Pros: Quiet and pleasant reception/bar area
Cons: Standard of cleaning and rooms need upgrading . Staff need to learn manners, don't question customer requests for towels !
Location: Ideal location for shops and concert venue shame the hotel lacks 4star standard
Stayed over for concert and ideal location for Hydro . Main areas were good in hotel but room disappointing . Lift , walls in corridor and bedroom needs redecorated. The chairs in our room were stained , which I find disgusting . Carpet needing a good clean too . Furniture old and tired too. Breakfast only until 930am , not all of us there for an early start midweek . Poor 4 star hotel given its neighbours around the same location

Could not have been more friendly or helpful

Posted 18-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff were awesome. Free wifi. Good breakfast. Clean, well equipped room. Comfy bed. Great shower. Good quality toiletries.
Cons: Wifi signal was a bit patchy in some places in room.
Location: This hotel is pretty centrally located, and within walking distance of everything I wanted to get to.
I stayed overnight in the Menzies, and had a fantastic experience. My 'executive king' room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The price included free soft drinks and snacks (popcorn, raisins, a twix) and lovely bathrobes for after I used the amazing shower. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much effort. They even printed me out some documents I had forgotten to bring with me without charge. They arranged my taxi and came to get me from breakfast when it was early. The toiletries were of good quality, wifi was free, the bed was large and comfortable and came with 6 pillows and 4 cushions! Breakfast was properly cooked and tasty - the highlight for me was well seasoned and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs (rather than dried out or mushy as they are in many hotels), but there were also beans, mushrooms, potato cakes, fresh fruit, juices, cereal, toast, pastries, yoghurts, cold cuts. Well worth the small uplift in price.
