Charges were ridicules!!

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Booked a 'Queen' room that was not a queen bed? Then I was told that a double was a queen? Hmmm There was no btls of complimentary water in room, then was told I can buy one, and was also told that ALL Hilton's charged for water in room. When I pointed out I'd stayed in Hilton Manchester Airport and Hilton in Edinburgh in the last month and had both Sparkling and Still water in the room complimentary, I was then told it was now free, help myself !! Every Hilton I've stayed at I've had breakfast in the room, and I've paid the additional £5 tray charge. But at Hilton Glasgow, we were told that we needed to pay the £5 tray charge, & we were to pay a room service charge of £6 each? Ffs Glasgow Hilton, you are not that special, especially as you are currently in the middle of a building site. Get in line with other hotels and you might actually get your occupancy up by encouraging repeat business by giving realistic charges. It is hard to use your facilities as your bar is full during the day, full with businessmen using your areas free, having meetings for hours, with most of them not even buying a coffee or even being residents in your Hotel. Nice hotel, good situation.

We enjoyed our stay. Not 5* but very attentive housekeeping and great breakfast. Service in dining room on Valentine's not great, eventually gave up on dessert and bottle of wine and moved to the bar. Book spa in advance. Taxis available at door.

Pros: the bedroom
Cons: # the breakfast dining area could be improved - certainly not five star standard
bedroom very good but dining room really disappointing - dont expect to have to make your own coffee in a 5 star hotel

Great Hotel

Posted 03-Feb-2015
Pros: Location, parking and not forgetting breakfast!
Cons: Nothing
Location: Walk to city centre 10 minutes, drive to most places of interest 20 if needed
Really nice hotel, staff were terrific from the doorman helping me with parking to the girl who instructed us about the pool and changing rooms. Room excellent and felt spacious, clear and relaxing. Will return on next visit to Glasgow no doubt about that.

Nice hotel - didnt make full use of facilities

Posted 03-Feb-2015
Pros: Friendly staff at check-in - we checked in before 11am on the day - which was great
Cons: Made limited use of the facilities - so cannot comment
Location: City centre close by - central for most attractions in Glasgow (easy taxi ride/underground)
Stayed for one night - slightly out of centre - but plenty of taxis - only 15 min walk to centre

Arrived and checked in with no problem what so ever. After speaking to the receptionist and was telling her we were getting married we got a complimentary bottle of wine on the house which was brought to the room. Will defiantly be booking up again :)

A great base for shopping and shows at Christmas

Posted 29-Dec-2014
Pros: The breakfast buffet, great choice of well prepared food. Haggis for breakfast, yes! The friendly chef who chats to guests is a nice touch
Cons: Was never tempted by the restaurant for dinner, it seems a bit steep and there is so much choice nearby
Location: The pantomime at the Clyde Auditorium was truly spectacular. The Auditorium is not my favourite venue but the show was terrific.
Possibly my favourite hotel, it seems to get the balance right between a big efficient hotel but still providing a friendly face. We had four nights bed and breakfast and once again it didn't disappoint. The room was generous for a city hotel and the bed was comfortable. The pool and health club are well maintained and accessible. We had some problems with the heating, which were sorted out, but why not put instructions on how to work the heating in the room guide? Our stay was over too soon, were sorry to go home.
