Nice and central.

Central Glasgow which was nice. Friendly staff. Dated d├ęcor, noisy room. Was okay because of it's proximity to the city center. Complimentary bar was a nice touch.

Has some drawbacks

Posted 05-Oct-2014
Pros: Good location if in a very busy area
Cons: Our room would've been more comfortable with about half the furniture and a better layout, and some insulation from the street noise might have helped
Location: Tons of shopping nearby- the upscale Prince Square is the nicest. Take the nearby subway to Hillhead- neat area near U of Glasgow.
The hotel is located in the middle of town and is a little tricky if you are driving but right next to the train station. They give a good discount at a large mall parking garage a few blocks behind it. The room was crammed with furniture & there was a little odd alcove where the desk w/hair dryer were located. The mini bar was free if not overly stocked or chilled. Breakfast is not included though they give a coupon for a free drink at Waxy's next door- fine for a drink but fuggeddaboutit if you want food, there is barely any staff in a huge place. Biggest gripe was the street noise. Police and fire sirens were going off all night long and it made sleeping very difficult. The staff was nice and maybe a room at the back would work out, but I wouldn't return due to the noise.

Pros: The staff was terrific. Very helpful in recommending restaurants.
Cons: The room smelled a little like smoke even though the room was suppose to be non-smoking. Air unit did not work that well in removing odor.
Location: Great location near shopping, dining, subway, and the train station.
Great location near George Square. We could walk to almost everything. The staff was very friendly and really helpful in locating places on a map that we wanted to visit.

Two nights at the Carlton George

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Pros: I loved the restaurant and their exquisite cuisine. Try the Chilean bass and strawberry flan dessert in a pepper sauce.
Cons: Little noisy with the rumble of the train but didn't bother us for sleeping. More like background noise.
Location: We visited the Chamber of Commerce tour, spectacular, right on the square. Took a Rabbie tour and got on right by the square.
We loved our stay. It was close to everything. The free minibar was fantastic and we later found that no other hotels offered this and it was quite expensive in other hotels. The bedding was clean and comfy, cozy. Restaurant on top floor had fantastic food. and view. Also could sit outside on roof terrace.

Welcome break

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Pros: Central and friendly staff. Only downside really was that the pillows were hard - found it difficult to sleep.
Cons: Would be good to offer different pillows as most other hotels we have stayed in offer feather as well as foam.
Location: Very good central location convenient for museums, shopping, eating and drinking.
Good sunny break in Glasgow. Only rained on 1 day! Lots of places to eat and drink all within walking distance of the hotel. Wouldn't really recommend the bar next door though unless you're young as it was quite noisy! If you like whisky the one we would recommend is "the Potts Still" - think it was on Hope Street.

Great Hotel in Perfect Location

Posted 08-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
Everyone was extremely nice. We received two free drinks at two different bars upon arrival. Plus the mini bar was completely complimentary and well stocked. The room was spacious, quiet and super clean. If I go back to Glasgow this is where I will stay every time.

Fantastic for city centre

Posted 30-Jun-2014
Pros: The decor and location were excellent
Cons: Some of the staff were rude especially the gentleman at checkout in the morning.
Location: Location is fabulous and there is always lots to do in the city.
Hotel location fantastic but staff were disappointing . Given vouchers for pub next door but were refused entry. When we complained to reception staff we were informed there was nothing they could do which we thought was very disappointing .
