“Would use this hotel again”
This was a reasonably priced hotel and my room was very comfortable. The welcome at reception was warm and efficient and everything in the room was as it needed to be. Room has seen better days - window frame needs replaced, and couldn't shut the heating off - but it was well cleaned and comfortable. TV and Fridge both worked. Cleaning staff were very obliging in topping up sundries on request, and were considerate enough not to remove milk etc that I'd bought for the fridge. Slept soundly on both nights. If you're on a low budget, and don't mind a 20 minute walk to the city centre then I'd recommend this hotel.
“best hotel in western glasgow”
good appearance from outside and better inside. clean, well equipped rooms, standard single room was small, especially the bathroom. but for the price was good value.
“wonderful short visit”
The hotel was very clean and comfoortable and enjoyed every minute of my stay. It is very central and has eased my visit to Glasgow while attending a conference at the RSAMD. Most probably if I had to visit Glasgow again I might choose the same hotel.
“Budget Plus!”
My partner and I visited Glasgow on a budget and not wanting to stay in a hostel or a traditional 'budget' hotel we searched for economical options on expedia. Our search found the Best Western Glasgow City Hotel and although the reviews were less than glowing, we decided to take a chance given its optimal location, cost and association with a trusted chain. The hotel did not disappoint. Upon arrival staff were friendly and courteous, our late check in did not cause a stir. The room, though small (as was expected) was efficiently set up and afforded excellent storage and mobility given the obvious square footage constraints. The bed was very comfortable and coupled with a location slightly off the beaten track, our nights were extremely restful and quiet. The hotel clientèle consisted mainly of young couples (much like ourselves) and middle aged European visitors and as a result the hotel maintained a peaceful atmosphere. Breakfast consisted of pastries, coffee and fresh fruit, which staff routinely replenished, and which I found quite satisfying. Overall, this hotel's rating understates the pleasure of the stay and I would recommend it to my friends. Conversely, others in our party stayed at a budget hotel down the street and for the same price had to sleep in a bunk bed and ate nothing but thinly sliced white bread for breakfast.
“Great hotel in the heart of Glasgow”
Best Western Glasgow City Hotel is a comfortable hotel close to the city centre. Charing Cross rail station is just round the corner providing rapid access to the rest of the region. Sauchiehall Street is only a few minutes' walk away. The West End (Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum etc.) is within easy reach. In short, an ideal location - but pleasantly quiet. Rooms are well appointed including plasma T.V. with a variety of channels including B.B.C. News. The self-serve buffet breakfast provides a good choice.
“Cosy, quiet, relaxed, friendly.”
Nice quiet, single room, adequate size if not massive. Stayed during the very cold and snowy weather in November-December 2010 and it felt like a cosy escape from the blizzard outside. Friendly and helpful staff when needed, but they were also never intrusive, sometimes I felt like the only person in the building, which I liked. Loads of restaurants within a few minutes walk. No lifts to upper floors, stairs only. Only a problem because I had an exceptionally heavy suitcase, but the night porter lugged it up for me. Would definitely stay again or recommend to friends.
“GOOD VALUE HOTEL”
Basic Rooms are small but the uprated rooms are well proportioned. Bathrooms again very small but very clean and have all necessary facilities. Staff very helpful and breakfast good. Location good for Kings Theatre and useful for transport close to Charing Cross Station and bus routes
“"Good Hotel in Handy Location"”
Good location about a 10 minute walk from the City Centre, there were plenty of bars/pubs and restaurants close by. There was a great self service buffet breakfast, we had a lovely room which was only slightly spoilt by a noisy radiaitor/radiator pipes. We had a lovely time in glasgow and would recommend this hotel.
“Perfectly Central”
We have stayed here twice as it was ideal location for railway station & King's Theatre. We were 2 minutes from a fantastic Italian Restaurant Massimos, which was just across the road from Theatre. Hotel staff are friendly, rooms are large, very comfy beds & good showers. We heard no noise from within the hotel or outside during our stay, which can be a problem in budget hotels. Would certainly stay here again & highly recommend it .
“Very good budget price hotel”
There is very little one could find fault with here. It's in a reasonably good location to explore the centre - approx. 20 mins by foot to places like the Museum of Modern Art, which is quite central. The self-service continental breakfast is adequate provided you do not wish for meats. No lift. I found my room (top floor 3) very quiet, which is what I had requested, clean, warm and very well equipped plus generous allowance of tea, coffee etc. I thought overall that it was very suited to civilised people on a certain budget and probably the best of the hotels in the price range I could afford for a 3-day stay.
