“If you want to stay in a hostel (at hotel prices) this is the place for you”

This hotel is in dire need of a complete renovation from top to bottom. The first impressions on the stairs leading up to the reception set the scene - the carpet was fithy and frankly the hotel didn't improve from that moment until we left. The beds were very old and only 2 foot 6 inches across and the 'en-suite' bathroom was really a communal one which had been adjusted for our use. Breakfast was another experience with a distinct lack of food at 9 o'clock despite it being available until 10! All in all - we won't be returning.

“Exotic hotel; difficult parking”

The hotel makes it clear in its ads that parking is a problem, and indeed it is. But it is located on an ancient narrow street in 2,000 year old town, so enjoy! And you have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs to get to the lobby. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. We asked to change to a quieter room in the back of the hotel, and they were able to oblige. Nice cobblestoned old town location for walking.

Area recommendations

It is a relatively small town. Visit the old town. Or start at Chur as a place from which to begin your exploration of the mountains.

Getting there

We drove from the small town of Langnau to Lucerne, and south to ward Gotthard. At the town of Andermatt you get off the autobahn and go east into the Alps and over a mountain pass. Great drive.

“OK Hotel needs an update.”

A small hotel with minmal services. Major drawback is you need to lug your bags up two flights of stairs to check-in, no elevator. Breakfast supplied was minmal, European style, no eggs, etc.. Corner room was very nice, roomy, clean, bathroom also very adequate. Offered free internet service. Very nice restaurant attached to Hotel that has good recommendation. Hotel is in need of modern update, definitely tired, however service was helpful. Priced for condition I believe so that is the trade off.

Area recommendations

Old city neighborhood is best, lots to do, scenic, safe.

“Great hotel in a great city.”

The staff was friendly, the location was amazing, and it was an overall wonderful time. I would not recommend this hotel to older folks or the physically-disabled, as it is located up a story from the street and stairs are the only option.

I highly recommend this hotel for its location, charm and very helpful staff!

Eating out is expensive! The hotel provides a great breakfast to get you started. For lunch, pick up a sandwich or salad at Migros or Coop, and save money for a nice dinner out.

“Great Spot!”

“Nice hotel, good value”

An easy walk from the train station.Across from an old church. Not a large room, but perfectly adequate and very clean. They offered a complimentary beer, wine or soft drink in restaurant on ground level. Also had wi-fi and 2 computers available for visitor use. Nice variety offered for breakfast. Would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

“Good place to stay near town centre”

Clean and modest hotel, near both the station and town centre, the best attraction for me in the hotel is the free wifi access in the bedrooms. Our bedroom was fairly spacious, and although the bathroom could have done with updating the shower was very powerful.Breakfast was a simple uncooked buffet, but more than ample.
