“Good travel hotel”

This is convenient hotel for traveling. I wouldn't recommend it as a destination hotel as it is a bit outside of town. Parking is first-come, first-serve, very limited and you will end up parking over at the casino next door when the few spaces the hotel has are filled. Towels are VERY thin as well as the 2 pillows in the room. If you want any additional and call the front desk, they will tell you to come get them at the desk and hang up. The front desk seems to not know dining options besides the casino next door. The breakfast buffet is good, all cold, but nice options and the staff tending that offers great service and wonderful, helpful attitudes. The front desk could learn a thing or two from them. You will need a rental car if you want to go anywhere other than the casino.

“Schönes neues Hotel”

Das Ibis Fribourg liegt ein bißchen außerhalb der Stadt in einem Nahversorgungszentrum mit Supermärkten etc. direkt an der Autobahn. Zu Fuß in die Innenstadt läuft man ca. 40 Minuten, mit dem Bus (Haltestelle gleich um die Ecke) geht es um einiges schneller. Restaurants gibt es im Umfeld leider keine und im Hotel selbst wird nur eine sehr kleine Karte angeboten. Das macht das Hotel allerdings mit einem tollen Frühstück (mit richtig gutem Kaffee) wett. Auch Sauberkeit und Freundlichkeit des Personals würde ich als überdurchschnittlich bewerten. Wir waren begeistert. Wir würden jederzeit wieder im Ibis Fribourg übernachten, wir waren sehr zufrieden. Der etwas weitere Weg in die Stadt hat uns nichts ausgemacht.

Area recommendations
Etwa 30 km entfernt liegt das Städtchen Gruyères, das auf jeden Fall einen Abstecher wert ist. Gruyères besteht aus einigen idyllischen Häuschen und einem wunderschönen Château. Neben dem Schloß kann man auch ein Tibet Museum und das HR Giger Museum besichtigen. Schöne kleine Restaurants laden zum Fondue essen ein und in der Giger Bar kann man in außergewöhnlichem Ambiente einen Kaffee oder Tee trinken. Unten im Tal gibt es die Schaukäserei, in der der berühmte Greyerzer Käse hergestellt wird. Die Innenstadt von Fribourg ist ebenfalls sehr sehenswert mit ihren unzähligen Brücken und Brunnen, sowie den idyllischen Gässchen und Restaurants. Man sollte sich die Zeit nehmen, die Stadt zu Fuß erkunden, man sieht das eine odere andere Kleinod. Auch die Museen sind sehenswert.
