Nice place, but stingy in some ways for the price.

Location: Located downtown, not far from westside attractions: art museum, Founders, and a number of westside bars and restaurants within walking distance.
In all we were satisfied with the experience. The staff was helpful, the rooms nicely appointed, but very small/ Biggest complaint was the size of the bathroom, which was almost ridiculously small for a hotel of this price range. Room to wash, but nowhere to actually put anything down.

Great Fourth of July fireworks

Posted 12-Jul-2015
Loved the location to attend the fireworks. The day of the fourth we had the downtown area to ourselves. We enjoyed lunch on the patio at the Bob's beer complex and a delicious dinner at Bistro Belle Vita. The Amway fireworks display was awesome from the lawn of Amway Park just across the bridge from the hotel.

Was told i would get a room with a view of the fireworks only to be told they did'nt have one available! I had family from North Carolina up to visit and I booked the room at the Amway only see the fireworks. It was very disappointing and the staff was not very helpful in trying to rectify the problem

My kids think their Dad is a big shot.

Pros: Service was friendly and treated you in a way that you wished everyone treated you.
Cons: Have an observation deck that overlooks the water so you could see the fireworks without having to go into the crowds of people in the street.
Location: Visit family, Go to the Grand Haven and Holland Beaches. Go shopping in Grandville.
I took my family to the Amway Grand Hotel on the fourth of July and we had a wonderful time. The service and cleanliness exceeds any chain hotel. My kids where impressed with the facilities and had only positive statements all weekend. Thanks for a great time.

Very nice hotel

Comfortable rooms which was quite spacious. The view of the room was good, although the curtains were a problem. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone who was staying in the downtown Grand Rapids area.

Nice hotel. But, terrible view. All we could see was terraces of other buildings. Hoped for a better view. The hotel itself was beautiful though. The staff was very nice as well.

Old vs new

Posted 22-Jun-2015
We had a wonderful stay in GR. The hotel is centrally located. We stayed in the "Towers" which was modern and lovely. It was a bit of a surprise since the only pictures shown on their website is of the original hotel with the traditional / older decor. If you want that, then be sure to request it as you may find yourself in the Tower which is very modern.
