Great place from which to view Art Prize.

Posted 29-Sep-2014
Pros: Everything
Location: Grand Rapids is a great walking city. Wonderful place to launch an Art Prize visit.
We were in a new room on the 22nd floor of the Tower. Great view of the river and all new everything in the room and down the hallways. Gorgeous!

Pros: Staff, amenities and location.
Location: Right downtaow Grand Rapids - you're in the center of everything - that's not just a cliche...
I've stayed at the Amweay Grand a number of times and have always enjoyed. Fron the staff to the restauarnats and lounges everything is top notch....

Overall disappointing for price

Posted 23-Sep-2014
Pros: The staff had a good attitude. Room was clean and the housekeeping staff was very nice.
Cons: Parking for hotel guests, choice to not be in the out-dated part of the hotel.
Location: Lots of food, clubs, bars and things to do near the hotel.
We came to Grand Rapids to spend a night on the town as a surprise for a friends birthday. I booked the Amway because it was supposedly the nicest hotel downtown. The rooms were about $200 each taxes included. When we arrived we had an awful time finding where to park and how to get to the front desk. Once we were checked in, we found out that parking was not included in the steep hotel price. We got our room key and went to our rooms to find out that they had stuck us in the "historical" part of the hotel. If we wanted to stay in a historical hotel we would have gone to a Bed & Breakfast to at least get what we paid for. There wasn't even a fan in the bathroom. The bolt lock on our rooms door also did not work. There was no mini fridge or anything in the rooms we booked. It would have been nice to have a heads up or be able to request the "updated" part of the hotel. When we checked out of our rooms, we asked the front desk how to get back to our car and told them where we parked. We received bad directions and took about a 30 minute walk around the Amway, even getting locked outside while it was raining to navigate our way a few blocks and finally find our parking garage. This was not at all the downtown Grand Rapids hotel experience I had looked forward to.

Great experience. The room had everything we needed and the staff was very willing to help. The hotel was located within walking distance of many restaurants and other activities! There were also various options in the hotel for places to eat/stores where you could find virtually anything you needed or forgot. Parking was also great, if you parked on Floor F of the parking garage, you they have a skyway to the hotel for easy access. We stayed from Friday - Sunday but I wish we could have stayed longer because there was so much offered at the hotel!

If you need to be downtown Grand Rapids....

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Cons: Had to go to the front desk to get my bill. Have not had to do that since the 1980s.
Purchased at double the cost the "concierge level" room. The services attached to this room were not a great deal. There is a little time savings associated with the drink or snack there but it is no great value.

Grand Rapids Golf trip went great.

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Pros: The hotel is beautiful! The location is good as near many restaurant and bars.
Location: Everything is close by so good for young, old and families.
The Amway parking was easy as the walk into expansive hotel. Check-in went quickly as did check out. Many restaurants within the hotel as well a near hotel. Lots of shopping, pubs and golf so great stay.

It was nice, but not worth the price tag for me. I will say that the hotel staff was amazing, I was just expecting a nicer looking room and better bedding.

Great experience

Pros: Everything including the location and the surrounding area.
Cons: Nothing !!
Location: Great location, lots to do and see in the area.
Amazing hotel with lots of history relating to the founders of Amway Corporation. Many past presidents and prominent people have stayed there. The selection of restaurants and bars, Starbucks etc. in the hotel can't be beat. Impeccably maintained. There are a number of shoppes right in the lobby. The Amway Grand has it all !!! Definitely will stay there when I return to Grand Rapids.
