Nice hotel. But, terrible view. All we could see was terraces of other buildings. Hoped for a better view. The hotel itself was beautiful though. The staff was very nice as well.

Old vs new

Posted 22-Jun-2015
We had a wonderful stay in GR. The hotel is centrally located. We stayed in the "Towers" which was modern and lovely. It was a bit of a surprise since the only pictures shown on their website is of the original hotel with the traditional / older decor. If you want that, then be sure to request it as you may find yourself in the Tower which is very modern.

Great downtown location

Posted 15-Jun-2015
Pros: Location, breakfast, cleanliness, and staff.
Spent the weekend as we had a wedding to attend. The valet attendants were great and friendly, and I glad not to walk! Check-in was fast, easy and pleasant. The room and bathroom were both good size and clean! Great hot shower. My favorite was the full buffet breakfast with the omelet station. The food was fresh, filling and delicious. Love that it is located within walking distance to so much of what Grand Rapids has to offer.

Good Room, Poor Dining

Posted 29-May-2015
Pros: Location, high-quality rooms.
Cons: Finish the renovations, re-open the restaurants.
Location: A number of good restaurants within walking distance, as we found out.
The hotel is undergoing considerable renovation that has resulted in the closing of a main restaurant, and a severely restricted breakfast menu. In addition, neither the desk clerk nor the concierge (at first) did not seem to know that a second restaurant, a premier one, was closed on the night we stayed. So, we had to go outside to get a good dinner. Fortunately, some excellent options within walking distance, but we would have preferred to stay in after a long day of driving. The rooms were very good, though a bit on the small side for the price charged.

Bachelorette getaway

Posted 26-May-2015
Easy checking in and out. Really liked the touch screen maps (would've gotten terribly turned around) The room was comfortable and clean. Asked for a fridge and it was delivered promptly. Wonderful dining at Ruth's Chris and Cygnus 27. Looking forward to a repeat stay. This hotel is close to everything!

Elegant hotel located in downtown Grand Rapids

Posted 22-May-2015
Pros: This is a "big city" hotel from the carpets to the furniture to the paneling.
Cons: Room service menu somewhat limited.
Location: In the middle of downtown, close to the river. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is embedded in the hotel structure.
Stayed in a handicap room (I'm note) which was very comfortable. Room service menu somewhat limited. Closet panel door was off its slider but manageable.

Came for a graduation, loud noise in hall, kids running in hall, did not sleep well, mattress to firm. Most beautiful hotel in Michigan.
