"Great hotel for a traveler on a budget. "
Overall nice stay.
I needed a place to stay on short notice that was near Providence St Peter Hospital. I spent a week in Olympia and chose to stay at the Governor. The building is older but they seem to be renovating. The lobby had a strange sweet smell, but the floors and rooms were fine. I had a great view of the park across the street.
The location was great; right behind the hotel is a great walking track and beautiful view of the Capitol Building. My only qualm with the area would be that it isn't comfortable to walk around at night; there are some unsavory characters out after sundown. However, daytime is great, lovely shops, cafes, and dining all at walking distance.
The best part about The Governor was their staff. Always friendly, compassionate, and helpful, the Governor hired the right people to make you feel comfortable. I got in very late on my first night there, checking in after midnight. The front desk clerk, Faith, helped me check in. After flying in, going straight to the hospital and spending the day there, I was spent, and Faith was incredible; not only did she make sure to get me to my room quickly since I was so tired, but she lent me her ear and gave me a shoulder to cry on. She was such an asset, it's too bad that was her last night. But every employee there was just as lovely.
The room was clean, especially the shower, and I had a very wonderful, comfortable time there (except for the lobby smell.)
Tl;dr: not too shabby, amazing staff and service
