“great hotel, would definately go back”

Great hotel, very friendly service and an unbelievable location adjacent to the entry to Alhambra. Well served by small buses connecting to central Granada, but take advice (or a taxi) if connecting to the main train or bus station or the airport. Hotel rates are very reasonable and the rooms are comfortable and quite spacious. Recommended highly.

Area recommendations
Granada is all about Alhambra, but the views from San Nicholas are stunning. Just below San Nicholas, overlooking the ravine, there are some great wisteria covered al fresco restaurants, worth it for the views alone. Try to read Washington Irving's "Tales of the Alhambra" before visiting the Alhambra, it will make your visit even more rewarding. It is a wonderful, mystical place that never ceases to amaze and delight.
When to go
Late summer was great, once the northern hemisphere school holidays are over the crowds diminish and it is much less busy. We visited end of August and the weather was perfect, sunny, cool (around 28 deg to 32 deg) with crisp nights (12-14 deg).September may be even better.

“Great location”

By itself, this is only a 2 1/2 star hotel but the location is wonderful. Like most travelers, we stayed here to see the Alhambra. From the hotel front door to the on site ticket sales is about 200 yards! They don't have their own parking but you get a discount at the adjacent Alhambra parking lot. It's easy to wheel your bags straight to your car. Directions to the hotel need to be improved. Our Garmin got us close but guys walking their dogs knew where the hotel was and solved the hunt we were on.

Getting there
Here's the answer to getting to the hotel. Take the roundabout leading to the Alhambra parking lot. As you come out of the turn, you will see the gate to the Alhambra parking lot on your right and a narrow two lane road just left of it. Take that road about 500 yards and you will be at the temporary hotel parking

“great location to the Alhambra”

Located just steps from the Alhambra. Very helpful front desk. Easy to drive to, as long as you stay out of the Old Town and drive straight to the hotel. Take the highway around the city. We drove, accidentally, into the Old Town and were lost for 2 hours. Used a bad set of directions.

“A perfect location for anyone wishing to visit the Alhambra in Granada”

The annex to the hotel is "modern", but it is not as nice as the original hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The location was perfect for anyone who wanted to visit the Alhambra, but it was a bus ride away from the main drage of Granada where the "in" spots are located. Food choices were limited in the area of the hotel, but we found a wonderful buffet at a nearby hotel that was slightly above the location of the Guadalupe. It was a good idea to take a taxi to and from the train/bus stations since the hotel is a signifcant distance from either of these two venues. Overall our stay was a very good one, and the price was extremely low for Spanish hotels.

Area recommendations
The area near the Alhambra and the Plaza Nueve.
When to go
The best time to go to Granada would be in the spring or the fall when the temperatures are much more moderate. It was very hot in August, and it would be cool in the winter.
Getting around
Use your feet to see the sights since the more that you walk the more that you will see. Bus service between the tourist areas is very good with buses coming every 5 to 12 minutes. Use a taxi to get to your hotel from the bus/train terminal since they are a good distance from the hotel areas, and it is difficult to find many of the hotels on your own.
Must see
Al Bacyn area, the Alhambra, and Plaza Nueve
Dining
There is more choice for food near the Al Bacyn are and the Plaza Nueve. Choice near the Alhambra is very limited unless you want to eat in the expensive Parador hotel which is in the Alhambra.
