Rebecca and myself wanted a central location with good facilities, That is exactly what we got. A lovely room on the 5th floor, clean, and spacious, we didnt spend a lot of time in the hotel but it was nice and quiet with a good atmosphere,The buffet breakfast for 15 euros was a great start to the day and there was plenty of choice.
We will hopefully be returning before the end of the year and have no problem in recommending this hotel to other travellers, great value .
Think we got unlucky. The room we were given was small; but others we peaked at when doors were open seemed much bigger. The poor/roof terrace area was nice but again smaller than another I've experienced in Madrid and very crowded for our mid July Stay.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, even when their English sometimes lagged.
The hotel was very clean. The bar service friendly and English speaking. It's a very quiet location, just a half block from a main street and restaurant area.
The hotel is old, even though is renovated it's still antique. They charge you 12 euros to have WiFi in your room, they only have free WiFi at the lobby. The staff was kind and nice. The breakfast was good, varied. Around the hotel you have a couple of theaters and local restaurants; if you walk up the street you'll find big stores. The Plaza del Sol is at 15 min walking, and there are plenty of stores around there.
Musicals, hotels, shops and restaurants make the Gran Via a rich vein of entertainment, finishing in the east with the black dome of the Metropolis building. The heart of Madrid, the Puerta del Sol contains the statue of the symbolic bear of Madrid and Tio Pepe sherry sign. Westwards, the grand Plaza Mayor was once the site of inquisitions and executions, but is now mostly visited for its terrace cafes.
