“Very nice hotel”

Good location, convenient for everything. The best hotel breakfast we have ever had. The only down side was that they dont have tea and coffee in the rooms but kettles are available on request. However, we asked three times for kettles for our rooms and they never materialised.

Area recommendations
The Volvo Museum and the Maritime Museum were excellent. We also went on a ferry trip to Vrango which was very enjoyable.

“We have already returned to this classic central hotel, an excellent base for leisure and business”

Quietly elegant and luxurious with very high standards of comfort and service. It was perfect both as a base for sightseeing and as a place to relax with an excellent restaurant and bar.

Area recommendations
Gothenburg is a great city, easy to get around whether walking, by tram or by ferry. Great architecture and parks, interesting and pleasant people - good fish market. Great start point for exploring the beautiful Bohuslan coast (North of Gothenburg) with it's myriad of islands with pretty timber summer houses. Beware, out of season, which is June through to early September, a lot of the small coastal towns are like ghost towns, no people and absolutely nothing open. Eating and drinking is very expensive everywhere.

“Great hotel would highly recommend”

Excellent hotel in a convenient location. Had dinner in the restaurant during my stay, the service was exceptional and food was top notch too. Very courteous staff, would highly recommend to anyone and would definitely stay at Elite Plaza if/when I visit Gothenburg again.

“superb hotel!”

I travel internationally 100K+ miles/year - - this hotel is one of the best I've stayed in. It's truly top-notch Swedish in all aspects - - every detail was carefully tended to, understated elegance without excessive "schmaltz". The breakfast smorgasbord was amazing - very Scandinavian, excellent quality food, from grains to eggs to meats and fish, beautifully presented. Room was rather small, but very well appointed. All staff were professional, smart, helpful, focused. Outstanding amond this top-notch team was "Michael" (front desk) who not only went well beyond in getting my ill-performing laptop synched with hotel Internet access, but also went out of his way to provide recommendations for shops, restaurants, attractions that exceeded our expectations every time we saw him. Michael is a 'rock star' service provider who personifies the Elite Hotel. A wonderful hotel from which to experience the best of Goteborg.

Haga - - captures old Goteborg; great shops, cafes.

“Upscale convenient hotel”

Great hotel, very nice. My room was very small as I was traveling on my own but the room was very nice. Everything was new, very clean and very comfortable. Also had multiple television stations in English! Within minutes of all the major attractions and Ullevi Stadium. Great hotel and location. Highly recommended. Only downfall was no air conditioning

Area recommendations
Great geighborhood, great location, walking distance to central train station.

“Best Concierge Ever, Plus Bicycles!”

The best part of this hotel is Pierre, the Manager on Duty and the Concierge. If only people in the "hospitality" industry everywhere knew their job half as well as him! He even lent us bicycles, which was the best way to tour the sites we needed to see. Then he helped us with the arrangements for the rest of our Sweden vacation. Simply the best ever, 110% professional. The worst part of the hotel is the restaurant. Avoid eating there at all costs. It is terrible. Everything was sub-par, the food, the service, the ambience. I wouldn't rate it even 2 stars and the price is 4 stars. I got very sick from the Swedish oysters. Not even the breakfast (included in room rate) was worth the time. Not a good dining experience all-around. The guest rooms are very, very small, but the hallways are spacious. The bathrooms are lacking in amenities. This hotel is quite outdated in almost every respect, but the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, combined with the location, just about make up for it. I was charged the rack rate for the additional night I had to stay because I was deathly ill from eating their food.

Area recommendations
The inner centrum is very nice, with shopping, museums, restaurants, and cultural activities. You can easily access the waterfront, opera house, art museum, city museum, and the Liseborg amusement park from there. The train station and airport bus are not far, either.
When to go
Summer months are best, as it is quite chilly, rainy and overcast most of the time. I would only visit from late June until early September, even then it can be chilly. It stays light very late which is pleasant.
Getting around
I
Dining
Avoid Swedish food, as it is overly salted (especially the fish stews or soups) and they use no spices. The best food can be found in Asian restaurants, Turkish restaurants, and other ethnic-type eateries. The fast food will make you ill if you eat it. Be prepared to pay extremely high prices for everything. A cup of coffee is usually in excess of $6.00. Convenience stores sell nuts and pastries, which are sometimes a good alternative. The tap water tastes good, so no need for expensive bottled water, other than convenience. Breads and some cheeses are good, but I did not find a single Swedish restaurant that served edible food.

“Nice place to stay”

We stayed two nights while picking up our new Volvo from the factory. Staff was very courteous and friendly. Breakfast was great. Parking was a bit pricey, but secure. Room was nice, but a bit tight for four. We would stay again.

“great central hotel”

Very nice hotel in the center. Very close to the tram and the airport bus. The bar stayed open until 1am which is rare for Gote!
