“Poor service, hard beds, and overpriced.”
Staff was repeatedly unhelpful and generally unfriendly. The hotel facilities included a nice pool area and passable rooms, however the beds were very very hard. I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.
“Good location at a Good Price”
This hotel is more of a 3 star experience - just to set your expectations right. Rooms are clean and bright - although I had to air out the room due to the lingering smell of the insecticide that was used. In a tropical country there does not seem to be a choice - they need to kill all those insects!! Breakfast was a modest affair and I had to speak to the front desk about providing more Indian breakfast choices (when in India - eat like the Indians - did not want to just sample eggs and sausages). This hotel caters to travel groups - so one day can be very pleasant and the other day can be crowded and noisy. Internet connections were only available in the lobby area (they said they were planning to have the whole hotel wired for the internet - this review is written in April 2011) - and there is a charge of Rs 500 (about $12) for a 24 hour connection. Taxis charge more than the norm when taken from this hotel - one can just walk a few meters away and get a taxi or rickshaw at normal rates.
“great experience”
Rooms are very nice, clean and wide, hotel staff very polite and helpful. It is not near the beach but the hotel provides a bus to Baga Beach every hour until 7 pm (the ride takes about 10 minutes). We did not go to the beach, because it was very crowded durin the day, but stayed at the hotel pool which is very well maintained. There is a flea market every Saturday right across the hotel that we did not know about untin Monday and felt very sorry.
“not impressed”
the compulsory new year's dinner was appalling for the price they charged
“Overall good hotel - but not when fully booked”
Hotel is very nice albeit a little remote. There's not a lot in the immediate vicinity so either the use of the hotel sguttle service to Baga beach or taxis are the only way to get about. On the flip side, if you want a place to relax and get away from it all this hotel is great for that. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel can manage when its not fully booked. With all the rooms occupied breakfast feels a bit like feeding time at the zoo. There seems to be a lot of Russian's who now come here as well as European tourists and local Indians. Feels a bit like being in the Med when you try to get a sunbed by the pool. Unless you reserve a bed ealry (around 8-8:30am) it's very difficult. Overall a pleasant stay when the hotel was a little quieter.
“THE place to stay for 5 * in Goa”
The pool and pool area and service there was fabulous, would definitely revisit. Our room was comfy and clean, good air cond, and balcony. Food was good, - overall staff attitude was fantastic!
“Relaxing Retreat”
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel, which features many of the amenities of a 5-star resort but at a more reasonable price. It is approximately a 1 hour drive from the airport. Rooms are stylish and modern and all have balconies, some looking out to the pool. The restaurants are excellent and serve both Western and Indian food. Service was friendly and attentive (both at the restaurants, pool, and throughout the hotel). Room service, in-room bar, and ala carte prices are VERY reasonable. It is not located ON the beach, but the hotel provides an hourly shuttle to Baga Beach. If you like bohemian beaches that are great for people-watching, this is the place for you! Unfortunately, it was not the laid back tranquil place I was imagining - so spent more time at the hotel's pool! There is not much near the hotel (walking distance), so you will probably have to eat all your meals there (unless you take a taxi). It is located across the street from a HUGE Saturday Night Market, which was quite nice and featured food stalls. The gym is basic (a few free weights, two bikes, a treadmill, and a very old cross-training weight machine). There is also a spa and a beauty salon (only for women!). It's a good place to have a relaxing vacation - there was on one night (as I read in one review) noise from the casino/club but I was still able to sleep.
“The Indian Carribean”
Me and my friend had an amazing time at the Riviera de Goa. It was conveniently located across from Saturday night bazaar and a very close ride to the beach which is one of the nicest beaches in India. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The thai massage therapist at the resort was a bonus. She was amazing. I recommend the one hour full body oil massage! The rooms were clean and there was a late night cafe open to satisfy our hunger after we got home from clubbing. Great pool and lounge area right outside the hotel rooms if you just want to relax at the resort.
“My 4 Day stay in Goa”
This hotel was just perfect. Everything was as expected. To be precise : - There was someone to receive us at Railway station when we reached goa and drop to railway station service was also prompt. - Very neat and clean hotel. - Housekeeping was good. - food was good. - Staff was very helpful. - Check in process was very smooth and quick. - Room is very nice. - Location of thi hotel is very near to baga and Calangute beach and is just perfect for stay. All together I would recommend any and everyone to go for this hotel without a second thought.
“Excellent hotel (even by American and International Standards)!!!”
They say that the Riviera de Goa is a 4-star hotel, but the service is definitely 5-star. Everyone was extremely courteous at all times, and, yes, the amenities very much exceeded all expectations. The overall value-for-money is definitely something to write home about. Highlights included the following: -The buffet restaurant: I stopped in for one meal each day (lunch or dinner) and the food was excellent. For a buffet, the quality was well above par and the price did not exceed $10 (USD). The best dish, by far, was the chicken vindaloo....the best way to describe it is to say that it was PERFECT! The desserts were excellent as well (especially the ice cream, which appears as if it is made from scratch)....so excellent that I actually ate a full dessert each time I was in the restaurant (something I almost never ever do back home!). -Cab service: Whenever I needed to go to Baga or Calangute, I would request a cab at the front desk. Pretty much as soon as I sat down in one of the comfortable sofas/chairs the lobby, the cab would arrive! -Overall decor: Again, the hotel very much looked and felt like an American/International 4-star hotel (without the American/International price tag!). Other than maybe the dry cleaning (which is not done in the hotel, so it does not really even count....but it did appear as if my suits were not properly cleaned upon return), everything about my stay was essentially perfect!
