“Great 1st time experience”

There are bars, shops, restaurants & taxi's in abundance although some where closed as we were there out of tourist season. We did experience a few power cuts which did not last for too long so it may be a good idea to have a torch handy although they do supply candles in your room. Overall we had a great 1st experience of Osborne and Goa and look forward to planning our next visit (maybe not in May when it is hotter than any other month in the year)

Area recommendations

Goa has many beautiful beaches: our favorite beach was Calungute. Baga, Candolim, Vagitor and Angunia where also quite enjoyable. Lots of shacks and sunbeds, and music. BottleBay resturant on Baga beach served excelent food. Baga was the best place to be for shops, restaurants, beaches and drinking holes. There was also a more diverse crowd of people from different countries and everything was that little bit cheaper.

Getting there

Tourist season is from November to April. Most airlines fly direct to Goa. During off season, May to October, it is hard to find a direct flight and most flights go to Goa via Mumbia (Bombay). The waiting time to connect flights could be for approx 6 hrs. From the airport you can get a prepaid taxi to your hotel which will cost you around £10 which you can pay in Sterling or Rupees.

Getting around

It is so easy to get around Goa at anytime of the year, day or night. There are many forms of transport to choose from: Tuc Tuc's, licensed taxi's ( beware of the unlicensed plates) there is a train service and local buses. You may be temped to rent a bike but make sure you are covered by your insurance first. They cheap to rent and makes a real difference to walking around in the heat and getting to explore the country in more detail. Watch out for the cows, they have the right of way!

“Hotel Osbourne a Calangute”

Hotel bien placé , pres de toute les commodités le seul probleme aura été le petit dejeuner tout inclus , le pseudo buffet était composé de Café , toast et beurre ., tout ce que vous commanderez en plus sera payant . Sinon le menage , rien a dire , tres propre... globalement positif

Calangute and Baga Beaches, Goa, India: Once a famed hippie hangout, Calangute is still popular for its beautiful beach. Calangute Beach, 15 km north of Panaji, is known as the Queen of Beaches. Visitors parasail, water ski, and windsurf during the day, then head to area restaurants for tasty local and international cuisine. The bars host a wide variety of music. The Kerkar Art Complex and St. Alex Church are also highlights here. Bordered on the north by Baga Creek, Baga Beach features vibrant nightlife, water sports, and beach shacks serving diverse eats to hungry visitors. While the resorts that have sprung up along both beaches make this a fairly high-traffic area, guests can still find pockets of calm in which to relax.
