“Friendly staff, excellent location and well appointed services”
Neelam's is a well established hotel in the heart of Calangute and is definitely worth the three-four star rating. I arrived at 8am after 24 hours of flights and they fixed up a room for me straight away (before normal check-in), as I was in dire need of rest. The photos on Expedia are accurate as to the style and condition of the rooms. The pool and indoor areas of the hotel are in good condition, however, are probably not used as much as they could. There is a small disco on some nights and entertainment/music in the evening. There is a small bar on the first floor that serves basic food, water and beverages till the morning, which was great after coming home from a bar or club to pick up a bottle or two of water. After some sleep, I tried out the ayurvedic massage to re-enliven my soul and relax into Goa. The massage was a good one with a focus on oil based healing, conducted by a trained specialist from Kerela. The food in the restaurant is varied and there are staples for continental preferences on the a-la-carte menu. Along with a choice of Indian breakfast options included in the package, you also get eggs, juice and tea. I didn't try out dinner but from a small sample of the food at Neelam's menu, it was well prepared. However, as it is a hotel, the rates can be more than found in local restaurants. The staff are friendly and helpful. The gym is well appointed, however, take your own sweat towel. The location is close to shops, beach and markets.
“Neelam's The Grand DUMP - NEVER STAY THERE!”
Neelam's The Grand Hotel is FAR from Grand. DO NOT BELIEVE the pictures on their website. The cutomer service is terrible, starting from the lobby manager Nagraj. He was the worst person I have ever dealt with in the hospitality industry. The pool is filthy, you cannot see the bottom of the pool and there are dead bugs floating every where. The room was disgusting. Inspite of us having paid for the "CP CLUB SELECT SUPERIOR DELUXE" room we were dumped in a regular room, which was no where near superior or deluxe. The couch had a filthy black velvet cover that did not fit the couch but was pinned on. The blankets were like burlap sack material. The bathroom was unacceptable. No running hot water and no shower dividers. So when you took a shower in the freezing cold water, the whole bathroom was wet. There were no amenties provided in the bathroom so if you did not bring shampoo/conditioner/lotion/hairdryer you were out of luck or had to go out shopping. The closet in the room was broken and the safe looked pathetic. Our overall experience at this hotel was HORRENDOUS!!! We will warn as many travellers to NEVER make the same mistake we did.
“great hotel will be back next year”
our first time in goa, and must say one of our best holidays ever, could not of picked a better hotel, staff were very polite, and the rooms were cleaned every day , breakfast was good and the service quick . they was some hotel work going on in one of the blocks and around the pool area but it did'nt stop us enjoying the pool area. it was in a good location and the people were fantastic, the food in the tree house reasurant just down the road was great and very cheap. will be back next year
“An average 3 star hotel”
Our stay with Neelam's The Grand, Goa was ok but not up to the mark. The main thing which disappointed us was the poor services of the hotel. No doubt the hotel is neat and clean and Restaurant and Cafeteria is good. We would suggest if you are looking for a hotel in budget, you should go for this one, but if you are looking for a better one, you should try for the other one Resorts.
